I have a very similar complaint that many others have made in reviews of Kicks Karate, it's about the unethical and unreasonable contract. It's a total scam from the moment you walk in. We were aware that it was expensive and we were ok with that. The instructors overall were good with the kids, although there was a lot more "play" than actual instruction in karate due to the extreme overcrowding of the classes (especially with the little ones). At the end of the day though, the kids were basically happy and we stuck with it for over 4 years for one of our kids and a year + when our little one joined in too. When our oldest decided after 4 years to quit, we were held to a ridiculous expectation that we would pay for an additional 3 months after she decided to quit! We never agreed to having a 90 day requirement for our child to make a decision to quit karate and the contract is very unclear about any cancellation period after the initial 9 month contract. We are fighting this with corporate (who hasn't bothered to call us back), but even if we should lose, it's a RIDICULOUS requirement! My child was 5years old when she wanted to try karate. She stuck with it for 4 years and yet they still want to charge us for an additional 3 months past when she decided to quit?! Thats an additional $450+...for her to not even attend classes,CRAZY! Completely unethical practice. I pulled both my kids out and would NOT go back. Trust me, the "interest" they had in either of our kids went away IMMEDIATELY when they realized we weren't going to be shelling out our $300/month anymore, even though they still wanted another 3 months of payments from us!
