I had been looking high and low for wood or wood-like cabinets in a color stain I wanted. Before I made the first payment of several thousands of dollars, the owner of Kitchen Prospects, Pascal, said the manufacturer he represents would get it done for me, if not on the first try, then the second or however many tries it takes. I made the payment.
I was not about to take advantage of that seemingly open ended offer of samples but thought when the first sample arrived and was unsatisfactory, that surely he'd graciously request another. Negative. "That'll be it. No more attempts to match the color." I would have to settle for what they already had in their showroom." I was shocked. I thought they were there to sell cabinets, and this would have been close to $100,000 worth of them. I complained to his staff about the waste of my money but it has not been returned. That was 8 weeks ago.
Kitchen Prospects also assured me their guarantee was for 10 years. Well I wondered ...whose guarantee? Who is this Kitchen Prospects other than the new kid on the block. They had just opened in the US. They are French. So I called the manufacturer they represent, and yes, they are an official dealer, but the 10 year guarantee is only on a few of the cabinets they sell.
There was nothing lost in translation. We conversed easily enough in English and where helpful in the little bit of french I know. I was dealing in good faith and sincere interest in moving forward. I knew it could be work for buyer and seller, but they just threw their hands up, and kept my money.

the day after I published my report the cabinet salesperson did finally call wondering if I'm still interested. After nearly two months of silence, I had moved onto better prospects.
