I signed on with Kognitive Marketing in September 2013 to sign customers up for credit cards in supermarkets.  At the orientation, we were told that we would be paid $10.25 for each application submitted and an additional $10.75 for each card activated and used.  The only mention of minimum wage was that our pay would be topped up to minimum wage if insufficient applications were submitted.

I quit in November after submitting 145 applications because they were threatening to fire me if my performance did not improve.  The upshot is that I was never paid any commissions.  All I was ever paid was minimum wage for the hours worked (except for the training, a hockey promotion (which they had promised to pay me for) and an Ontario statutory holiday which they are required to pay the employees for, but didn't).

It's hard to believe that none of the 145 applicants activated and used the card yet but , you guessed it,  I have received none of those commissions either.

My emails to them have gone unanswered.

It's a class action lawsuit waiting to happen.  Any qualified attorney is encouraged to contact me.  As for potential employees thinking of joining Kognitive:  Don't believe a word they tell you!
