Wedding Horror! If the bride had not insisted we use this dress shop, I would have RAN as fast as I could away from this establishment.
The WAY over-priced dress ended up costing $247.00. My Aunt said she could have made the same dress for $30.00 or less. And I believe her.
The dress looked homemade in a bad way. The dress seams did not line up and it was not pressed or steamed. The finishing looked shoddy and cheap.
Caution! The initial estimate was $215.00 but then taxes and extra charges were thrown on... She doesn't inform you of this during your first visit so be prepared to spend more than she quotes. And she does not put any of these additional costs in writing. Also, when my hubby went to pick up the dress, she tried to charge him even MORE money!!! And, another bridesmaid had luckily held onto her initial $100 deposit receipt because Laura told her that she still owed a $100 deposit! Beware!!! Rip Off Alert!!!
Another Caution! Laura only takes checks for deposits only. In order to pick up your final dress, you must have cash. (I think she does this because otherwise people would pick up their dresses and cancel their checks due to the poor dress quality.)
The mother of the bride elected to not even pick up her finished dress because it was so poorly made. She had to go out and buy a dress to wear because the one Laura made was ill-fitted and tacky looking.
Also, her website and business cards state, "Hablas Espanol!" They should probably say, "I also speak a little English!" Be prepared to have communication problems and receive phone calls that are unintelligle.
For a smooth, blissful wedding, stay away from Laura's Bridal!!!
UPDATE: Yesterday my hubby went to return the tuxedo's. And although the posted hours show that the store opens at 10:00 a.m. on a Monday, Laura did not arrive to open the shop until 11:00 a.m. The unprofessionalism just keeps coming!
