LawyerRatingz.com, I am a lawyer who has had several reviews on LawyerRatingz.com.  I have been practicing for 25 years now and most of my clients (approximately 95%), are pleased with the services of my lawfirm.  Part of of our practice is domestic relations (we also practice commercial law, personal injury and business law).  In domestic relations law, in particular, for the obvious reasons, I tend to encounter more troubled, angry and at times very difficult people.

Several years ago I represented a very troubled woman who became extremely difficult, aside from refusing to pay for services, and I withdrew from further representation.  She became obsessed with attempting to damage my good name and reputation and set about defaming me on LawyerRatingz.com.  She wrote terrible and untrue things about me on its lawyers review site and used her friends and family's computers to write several defamatory reviews.  It should be noted that in response to my complaints, LawyerRatingz.com removed some, but not all of that person's reviews as being duplicate.

I complained bitterly to LawyerRatingz.com and also reviewed my legal options (under Federal Law, my options were greatly limited with regard to LawyerRatingz.com).  After several communications with LawyerRatingz.com, they suggested that I improve my reputation by having satisfied clients post positive reviews.  I figured, "if I cannot beat them, then join them."  I proceeded, once every 3-4 months, to call different clients and ask them to go to LawyerRatingz.com and write "what they want."  This resulted in my being reviewed several times during the course of 1-2 days 2-3 times a year.

To my surprise, after I asked three or four clients to post a review in March 2012.  Three positive reviews were posted and LawyerRatingz.com removed two out of the three that were posted refusing to accept that they were written by different clients.  I knew who the clients were and I wrote to LawyerRatingz.com to ask them to repost the two positive reviews that were made about me (the left only one).  I wrote them twice on their "contact us" service and they simply ignored me.

Since then, I stopped asking clients to write reviews on their website as it seems that if I get too many positive reviews in a short period of time, they will simply edit them out.  This adversely affects the integrity of their web-site.

Due to the adversarial nature of the practice of law, there are many persons whom I, as a litigator, come into contact with and whom will wind up strongly disliking me (such as opposing parties).  The LawyerRatingz.com, in many instances, has become a place where persons who have a proverbial "axe" to grind or other problems not directly releated to the quality of the legal services that they received, can "vent their spleen" damaging the reputation of hard working honest legal professionals with impunity.

No doubt, there are some who indeed have hired less than competent or dishonest attorneys.  But on LawyerRatingz.com, it is impossible to sort out which reviewers are posting legitimate gripes from those who are merely using the site to vent their hatred, anger, disappointment at society, the legal system or their opponents (and their legal counsel).  I can accept that it is impossible for me to make every client happy.  I cannot accept the fact that LawyerRatingz.com permits its site to be used by people who wilfully damage the reputation of many hardworking professionals for ulterior motives.   LawyerRatingz.com declaration "let the public decide" is not a acceptable justification.

LawyerRatingz.com's conduct, as decribed above, makes it highly unreliable as a lawyer review website.
