On October 4, 2017, I received via email from Amazon Prime, an offer to participate in their rewards program for Prime. Members. They had 5 to 6 selections to choose from, ranging in values. LCI Pure Eye Complex, LLC was listed with a value of around $149.99 . I just paid for shipping for the two sample items offered. I understand the terms that after 14 days from order date, they would bill me for future products that they would ship to me on a monthly basis. I checked my checking account today (October 18th) and found a charge pending from this company in the amount of $85.99. My husband called them via their company phone # (1-888-431-9782). The first agent was rude to me when I took over the call with her. She was condescending, reading the disclaimer to me over and over, without giving me the opportunity to explain my issue.
She kept telling my how I signed the agreement and how the disclaimer was visible. Also, she told me that my husband was much nicer to her than I was, after I asked her to transfer me to her manager. Please note that I never raised my voice to her nor was disrespectful to her in any way. My husband even said I was very nice to her and that he was not patient with her when he spoke with her. Regardless, I requested her to cancel my account. She did but refused to refund the full $85.99. She offered to give me a 50% discount though. Said I was supposed to cancel my account within 14 days of order date. Also, she kept me on ‘hold’ for almost 45 minutes when trying to transfer me to a manager, leaving me hanging on the whole time. I just hung and never had the chance to speak to a manager. Agent never confirmed how long it would take. I called them back and spoke with a different agent by the name of Danica.
She was not helpful either and would only offer to reduce the charge to $50.99. I again asked to speak with her manager and she just made it clear to me that her manager would confirm the same thing that she did. I then confirmed to her that once the charge goes through on my checking account, I will dispute the charges. She then cut me off in saying that 99% of disputes via their customers are won by their company. I reminded her that my order was placed on October 4th and that 14 days from 10/4/17 is 10/18/17, which is the day I called to cancel. We went back and forth on this fact a few more times, and then she stated that I should have called on the 13th day to cancel. So, she was now trying to confirm 13 day window and their agreement was within a 14 day period. This is clearly a SCAM!
