Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I had a salesman stop in our office who claimed to represent a company called RETRIEVER. He offered us great rates for their merchant services. He told us the credit processing machine/check approval terminal would be $55.95/mo. and we would own it at the end of 4 years. He told us if at any time we were not happy with their services, we could cancel anytime. He also told us he would stop by every week to make sure everything was working well and we were happy with their services. As soon as he set-up the terminal, we never saw him again.

We knew something was wrong and called him right away to come and remove the equipment, but he never returned. We sent a certified letter right away to RETRIEVER to cancel their services. We didn't know the terminal was leased through a different company, LEASE FINANCE GROUP LLC. I called them to cancel their services and was told we had a non-cancellable lease with them. NO WAY!!!! NEVER did we knowingly sign anything that we couldn't cancel. The salesman was obviously a scam artist and hid the page they have that we signed so that we didn't know we were signing it.

We've closed our bank account so they can't electronically withdraw anymore fees, but now they harass us continually on the phone and through letters. We've contacted our Attorney General's Office and the BBB. We've also contacted our local television Consumer Affairs Advocate on ABC and steered them to the sites on the internet with all the complaints against LEASE FINANCE GROUP, LLC.

Hopefully, this company will be found to be the scam artists they are!

Truth in Lending

#2Consumer Suggestion

Fri, April 18, 2008

Hi Pep, I looked up Truth in Lending Massachusetts and came up with this link: http://mortgage-home-loan-bank-fraud.com/manual.htm#Table%20of%20Contents Although I might be stretching it for a Retail Dealer, here is a paragraph that might interest you: --Regulation M Includes all the rules for consumer leasing transactions. Regulation M applies to contracts in the form of a lease where the use of personal property by a person primarily for personal, family or household purposes. The lease period must exceed four months, and the total contractual obligations must not exceed $25,000, regardless of whether the lessee has the option to purchase the property at the end of the lease term.--- You may want to read a little more OR call yourself a Family Business Owner. It is amazing since almost the same thing happened to me. Never saw the lease until I asked for it and rececieved a copy. I did look up Lease Finance Group of Chicago at BBB and they have an unsatisfactory rating. Plus there was a note that their report was being updated. Now I can't find it. Wish I would have saved that link. BBB site is hard to get around. You and I know this whole transaction is Fraudulent. As I found out when reported to the FTC, they said they may look into this matter if enough complaints are received. That is why I tell every to file a report. We are just little fish, but I hope that if enough little fish get in the barrel, we can make a difference. And please write you State Attorney General. I saw some reports on Rip Off where the AG did take action, especially in Illinois. I will not give up, Thanks G in California

How do you prove it was fraud?

Of course it was FRAUD, but how do I prove it???? This company and their salesmen are slick! They have a copy of the non-cancelable lease with my signature on it, but I NEVER "knowingly" signed such a lease. The salesman must have slipped it in with the stack of papers he wanted me to sign and just half-flipped each page over that needed to be signed....never showing us the page that said "non-cancelable" lease on the top of it. NEVER would I have signed such a thing. It was such an issue for me that the salesman had me sign a paper stating that if I wasn't 100% satisfied with their services, that I could cancel anytime....which is what made me comfortable doing business with him. Didn't realize it at the time, but he took that paper with him, so I don't have a copy of it. SLICK, SLICK, SLICK!!! I was too trusting for my own good. G of California, thanks for the sites. I'll stop by them and wage my complaints against this company. They are predators of small business owners and need to be stopped. I'll do what I can do to stop them. Righteousness wins out in the end, so they''ll get what's coming to them. BTW, I got a response from Lease Finance Group in response to my complaint with the BBC in Chicago. They're trying to say I accused them of forgery and that's not what I said. I said that I did not "knowingly" sign the lease....not that it was not my signature on the lease. They think they're slick sending me forgery papers to fill out, but I refused them because forgery is not the complaint. Deceptive business practices is the complaint. And G of California, of course I was not not told I was signing a non-cancelable lease. And, no, I was not given a Truth in Lending Statement. I wasn't given anything at all but the scratch paper the salesman worked out all the numbers on. The salesman took all the paperwork with him and said he'd get back to me. The company faxed me a copy of the signed non-cancelable lease that I signed when I tried to cancel their services. I denied ever having signed such a lease or agreeing to a non-cancelable lease...and lo and behold, they have my signature on it. SLICK, SLICK, SLICK!!! ~ Pep

#7Consumer Suggestion

Mon, April 14, 2008

Hi Pep, Welcome to the group of small business owners that have been ripped-off for years. This is so typical. Independent Rep comes and makes a deal, and then somewhere along the line Lease Finance Group Comes in and says you have a Irrevocable Lease and it doesn't matter what the Independent Rep Told You. When in reality, the Independent Rep is supposed to abide by the rules and explain everything, but doesn't. So as I said, the trick is, It is always the Other Guy!!! Irrevocable Leases should be OUTLAWED. As a recipiant of this lease, were you told it was Non-Cancellable (Irrevocable) and at the time you purchased the equipment, where you given a Truth in Lending Statement of how much it would cost you over the life of the lease??? I don't know in your state, but in California, if a full disclosure is not given at the time of purchase, this is Fraudulent. I have been making this suggestion to many other people being RippedOff by CIT & Independent Reps. So far, I have received no additional calls since I did this plus told CIT that this was FRAUD & FORGERY. But who knows???? So check this out>>>> You may want to send a complaint to FTC (Federal Trade Commission). I did and received a response saying they don't do individual cases. However, if they log enough complaints, they will start an investigation and possibly legal action. So here is the link: https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01 to the FTC complaint forms. I've told many people about it, so you may want to do the same. Make sure you give specific examples or even let them know you have documentation of deceptive or misleading information. Please remember if things weren't CLEARLY disclosed at time of sale, this may be FRAUD in most states Also, you may want to file with your State Attorney General. I haven't given up, but it does take a while for the squeaky wheel to be heard. The lease finance group did file to the credit bureau as a lost debt. However, I recently refinanced my home. I showed the Financing Company all the correspondence I had with this company, plus the many RipOff Reports, and she had a great laugh and I got my loan at a very low interest rate. As far as CIT, here is their main site: http://www.cit.com/main/default.htm . Also, within this site, I found e-mails and have sent copies of my rip-off report, including a copy of all the complaints listed under Lease Finance Group in the Rip-Off site. Here are some e-mail addresses, you may want to send your concerns to: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] Just to let them know how you feel about their fraudulent relationships with Independent Sales Representatives. I did get the Rip-Off Report Do-It-Yourself Guide and it did have some good steps to follow. However, it was a little lacking in the cyberspace rip-offs. I've been paralleling the thoughts or ideas in this Guide to try to apply them to the internet. For example, instead of sending faxes, send e-mails. So every web site I am interested in, I look for e-mails and make up a group listing & start bombarding them with e-mails and include my rip-off report, plus any other rip-off concerns. I hope this helps. Thanks, G for California
