Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
On 2/23/08 we negotiated a price on a new vehicle which my daughter wanted to purchase. The price did not include the upgraded wheels that were on the car. We said we would buy the car if they would split the sales tax with us, they agreed. However in the meantime there was a radio station outside advertising that any car purchased today was free of sales tax. We told the sales person of this, which I'm sure he already knew, and he used some big words saying that we would save more money by getting the vehicle for the price we had negotiated. I don't quite understand this.

We spent the entire day dealing on this vehicle. We had a 3 year old with us, and also had a dinner we were to attend at 6:00 in Price. My daughter filled out the application using her husbands information. She wanted both names on the title so she could establish credit for her husband, who has been in the Marine's for the past 4 years and served 2 tours in Iraq. My daughter has excellent credit, however she is not employed, her husband is. So they required a co signer, which we did.

After the papers were signed some person went over some additional paper work with us. The mileage on this new vehicle was 3647 and when we inspected the vehicle after it had been washed we noticed scratches and a small dent in the door. We asked at that time if the vehicle was used. They said it wasn't, however that is a lot of mileage for a new 2008.

After returning home we checked the sales tax on the contract and realized that they did not honor their deal to pay half. They contacted us the next day and wanted us to return the wheels. We then told them about the sales tax and they were rude and said we were liars on the application. We will return the wheels if they refund the sales tax, after all that was what they were advertising the day of the purchase.

Negotiating a Car Deal is a LOT like going to WAR !

Apparently you have not bought a car recently. You do NOT take a three-year old child along! You do NOT have ANY OTHER ENGAGEMENTS or ANY other distractions that will detract from what you have to think about and that it you have to keep from getting YENTZED by some slick, fast-talking car salesman. THIS IS USUALLY DONE BY THE MAN OF THE HOUSE AS THESE CAR SALESMEN WILL CHEAT WOMEN EVERY TIME unless she is a mechanic or otherwise has an insider's knowledge of how the car business works. IF YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THE CAR SALESMAN IS SAYING, ASK HIM TO SLOW DOWN AND EXPLAIN IT WHERE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND IT! THAT'S YOUR FAULT! YOU ARE SPENDING YOUR MONEY WITH THEM! IT THEY ARE RUDE TO YOU AND DISCOURTEOUS AND LIE TO YOU, YOU DO HAVE A FEW DAYS TO RETURN THE CAR FOR A REFUND,YOU KNOW. SOUNDS LIKE TO ME YOU HAD NO IDEA OF WHAT YOU WERE DOING AND DIDN'T NEED TO BE THERE ESPECIALLY WITH ALL OF THE DISTRACTIONS! YOU SHOULD HAVE PLANNED AHEAD! AND THE MALE IN YOUR PARTY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO NEGOTIATE ON YOUR BEHALF BETTER BECAUSE THAT IS HOW IT IS DONE! USED CAR AND CAR SALESMEN ARE NOTORIOUSLY CHAUVINISTIC THAT WAY. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T DO YOUR HOMEWORK! YOU GUYS GOT YENTZED.

By state law YOU have to pay sales tax, there is nothing any dealership can do to prevent you from paying sales tax. The best they could do to meet you half way on it is to reduce the sales price, which is what they did to help you out. Being and ignorant customer isn't a reason to try to slander a good business. I've never worked for a better more honest company than Legacy Mazda, and had I not left hat god forsaken state of UT I would have never left that company. Next time you're buying a car how about you READ your contract and ask the finance manager any questions you have.
