Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I am just writing this to let everyone know that we are taught that anyone that drives or steps on to the lot is a thief. Not only do they think all customers are thiefs, they also have accused at one time..every employee they have or have had of stealing.

They also work their employees 6 days a week 12 hour days...usually we are left on the lot by ourselves without any way to go to the bank or to get lunch. All I can say is this is a terrible company to work for and also to shop at.

They are good at one thing. Firing employees!! If you are hired here, you better believe that you are going to get fired. They do it after they are suppose to give pay increases..In the time that I have been here ( a little over a year)..I have seen 10-12 people fired. All are told the same thing. The state of TN is an at will employer and we do not have to give you a reason to be fired. Then after they leave we are always told that they were stealing. Its just hard to believe that everyone in the past year has stolen something from this crappy company.

Prices are way to high (big markups on all things on the lot)I do not think that you want to continue shopping for a company that is so dishonest not only to thier customers but their employees.

The company has stores in every state..all I am asking is to please stop doing any business with this company. Whatever they have..another company has it better..(and Cheaper)

The Facts about Leonard Buildings

#2UPDATE Employee

The individual who wrote this report (dudeatwork) does not have his facts in order.  I am the Human Resources Director for the company.  This is a great company to work for, well established, and successful.  We do not teach our employees that "anyone that drives or steps on to the lot is a thief."  How ludicrous of a statement that is.

Our customers are viewed as a priority and are given immediate attention.  They are the reason we are in business.  It is our goal and desire to help each customer find a solution to their needs and to feel good about doing business with us.  We have repeat customers from decades ago and we train our people to treat our customers like gold.

We do not accuse "every employee" of stealing.  We only accuse employees who the facts show are stealing.  As in any retail store operation, the employees are entrusted with company assets, products and cash.  We cannot turn our eyes to possible theft.  We have a fiduciary responsibility to the corporation to protect it.  If someone is suspected of stealing, it is investigated, and if corroborated, the individual is terminated and charges are pressed with law enforcement.  That is what any company would do.  Fortunately, this does not happen that often.

We do not work our "employees 6 days a week 12 hour days."  It is a retail based operation, so we have to be their for the customer.  This does require a 6 day work week- not seven like many retailers.  Most of our sales people work 50 -55 hours per week on average.  Many other sales based stores requiring much longer hours.  I hear it all the time when I'm recruiting- applicants say they are used to working 60 or 70 hours per week.  We want our employees to enjoy a work/family life balance and if someone is working too many hours, we cut that back.  We care about our people.

They rest of the "dudeatwork" comments can just be summed up as a disgruntled employee.  We provide an enjoyable and fun work environment.  It is challenging and hard work to be sure.  But that is also what makes it so enjoyable.

With regard to big markups, we are in business to make a fair profit.  In no way do we have larger markups than reasonable.  We offer a price match guarantee for similar products from our competitors.  And we do have lots of competition and many copy cats.  You cannot stay in business today with the competition the way it is by charging too much for your products.  And we have been in business over 45 years.

Stop by one of our stores today and you will be very pleased.  If you are looking for any of our products, we will provide you with what you need, at a fair price and with great customer service.
