Dundee,#2UPDATE EX-employee responds
Thu, December 02, 2004
The employee who left you with the impression that a more regular rotation schedule would have solved your problem, wasn't communicating clearly. Whether or not the paperwork was filled out regularly, and whether or not the tires were rebalanced/rotated regularly wouldn't have likely made any difference. Cupping is most often caused by bad shocks, or worn ball joints, or mis-alignment via a toe-in situation. In your case, with only 19,000 on the vehicle, most likely toe-in (alignment). Once a wear pattern has developed on a tire, like "cupping", it can't be changed. Only the purchase of new tires will resolve your vibration problem if, in fact, it is this cupping which is causing that same vibration. One final note: If LS employee's made any mistakes here, it was in not catching/informing you of the cupping situation earlier. But then, who's to say when that began? Maybe SINCE your last vist, or the previous owners last visit, whenever that was. Lastly it should be noted that cupping is caused by a vehicle equipment problem, not any defect in the tires, and nothing in so far as tire maintanance is concerned, soley, would have resolved the problem. In short, the tires were the runny nose, not the cold.
