Lifestyle Family Fitness Does not give money back and refuses to cancel account properly Reynoldsburg, Ohio
I joined Lifestyle Family Fitness at the end of July 2009. I was happy with the facilities and actually enjoyed working out there as the facility was well taken care of. I enrolled at The Ohio State University is September and called in to see what I had to do to cancel my membership with Lifestyle, because I would just use the facilities on campus. I was told by "Blake" that he would go ahead and cancel my membership and I didn't need to do anything else. My girlfriend also enrolled with me and he said that she would be cancelled to. I didn't see a charge on my account for September, October, or November. However, in December I saw a triple charge on my credit card for both my account and my girlfriends. When I called in to see what was going on I was told that since I didn't sign anything my account was still open.
When I told them that I hadn't used the facility in those 3 months I was given a run around and was told there was nothing they would do about it. When I called the corporate facility in Florida, I was told that it was handled by the club. When I called the club back they said it was handled by corporate. I called corporate back and spoke to a supervisor named "Mary" and was told that even though I was told it was already cancelled I would have to pay for the three months that I didn't use it. I disputed the charge with my bank and had it removed. Lifestyle then threatened to put this on my credit report as a breach of contract. I only wanted to cancel them for the school year and then go back in the summer, but after the way I was treated I will not be back. It cost me $150 to cancel both accounts. When I brought this up to the club manager "Tony" I was blown off and told that it was in the contract that they could charge me. There are plenty of other gyms out there, and I would recommend any of them over Lifestyle.
