Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We used these movers when our usual movers were unavailable to move us on our closing day, now we regret our impatience. Too few movers, with too small of a truck, showed up an hour late. They proceeded to move very slowly (i.e. carrying one lamp shade), to take many breaks, and complain incessantly and loudly about the owner's decision to not send enough movers for the job. By evening, only maybe one room (out of a five bedroom home) was moved to the new house and they requested to quit and start again the next day.

After hearing our disatisfied response, the owner agreed to send a few new movers to bring in some necessary items (beds, clothing, refrigerator) and "not charge us" for the extra hours, but the remainder of the move, he said, would have to continue to the next day. They showed up late again the next day and wouldn't unload the last load until we paid them cash (no checks or credit cards).

After this horrible experience was over, as we unpacked, we noticed many things damaged (furniture, walls, floors, lamps, etc.) and wrote a letter to the company, explaining our dissatisfaction and requesting damages. The company responded with a letter of dispute, citing that we could take them to court, and that we "weren't the first" to do so. We did. We won (twice - they appealed the first ruling).

Do not use this company - you're better off moving yourself.

CUTOMER IS RIP OFF NOT LYLE'S MOVING

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Tue, November 17, 2009

I was not going to do anything about this report, but unfortunately, people can just go on line and make false statements, and lies against a company and people will believe what is written so I had no choice.

This was the move from hell. Customer signed contract ect. and was all set for her move. This was one of our busiest weeks, and the week before we were going and seeing all the moves so we knew which trucks to use ect. She would not let us see her house until the night before. Then we found out why.

Her house was at a very dangerous intersection in Jenkintown on a hill, and there was no way we could use one of our bigger trucks, as this would have made it dangerous for our guys, and other cars. We had to take up one side of the road as it was. and use cones and tape to protect the men and the truck. We were late, because we had to empty one of our smaller trucks, since she was just moving right around the corner. The house had very narrow hallways and then about a 15-20 foot narrow walkway,  then down about 6-8 steps to the sidewalk to the truck.

We had 3 men on the job and could not have had anymore as they would have been walking into each other. The guys worked as well as they could, but because of the narrow hallways, the walkway and steps, they could only take out items out the best way they could without walking into each other. I know they did not say the things she said as our guys would not do that. Between 6-7 that night we got an horrendous thunder and lightning storm. We could not have the men be out in the open as they were, and I went to the job to shut it down, and continue the next day. Well, she made such a stink, as she did to the men all the time of the move, that I agreed to have guys coming off another job, take the truck to the new house and unload certain items. All this in a storm.

We were a little late the next day, due to the fact, that none of our guys wanted to go and finish the move due to this customers harassment, but we did. Right on the signed contract, it stated that we do not accept personal checks and that payment has to be made before the truck is unloaded. This is a contract that she signed, did she not read it? We accept money orders, cash and bank checks and it is right there on the contract. We got paid and finished the job.

After being in this business so long, if someone has a damaged item, they usually call us in a day or two and we take care of it. THREE weeks after this move, we get a certified letter demanding payment for all of these alleged damaged items or she will take us to court. She did not request, she demanded and the amount was almost 1500.00 the cost of her move. Quite a coincidence you think. She had signed a value sheet, stating that as per the law, .60 cents per pound for any damaged item. I guess she did not read that either, but she signed it. I did tell her to take us to court, and will admit to being a little flippant when I said she was not the first, nor would she be the last, I was wrong in that respect.

Went to her district court where on the stand she told so many false statements and of course, district justices do not understand certain laws and she was awarded said damages. I knew we would appeal after hearing her give false statements in court. We then went to Norristown where those judges do understand the laws and she says she won? Are you kidding me? She wanted 1500.00 plus almost 5,000 in attorney fees and what she  got was a payment of 180.00 dollars. That is right 180.00 dollars.Did I mention she had 6-7 children all under the age of 12. Yea, we did all the damage to her items.

This customer is the rip off, as she tried to make false charges and statements to get a free move.Since her plan did not work, the only recourse she had was to be spiteful and file this report and do harm to a business that really did nothing wrong and did the best it could under the circumstances.

I wish there was a website for companies to be able to list customers never to do business with, and she would be right at the top.

If you have any concerns about doing business with Lyle's Moving please call us as I can give you plenty of references from customers that were very pleased with our work.

Please do not believe this womans word or story as this is a complete and utterly fabricated report.
