Mattress Firm They say they are a Top 50 company to work for??? Indianapolis Indiana
Well this could be a long report! But they hire you..."guaranteed" $28,000 salary..as a Newbie a Manager in training you make $13.00 an hour and not allowed to work more than 40 hours.... once you are "trained" you become a MOD Manager on Duty.. meaning you travel all over the city to run stores on different days.. mind you it could be 40-50-60 miles or more from your home and ZERO compensation for that! You are almost always alone through the week.. your 10 plus hours in the store... don't forget to bring you lunch because you cannot leave!
Oh, the salary.. is a way for the MF corp to get you to work 50-60 even 70 hours per week during Labor Day, Veterans Day, Black Friday... events...and a list of others...Do not forget... SALARY.... So no overtime... although occassionaly you will see it show uo on check... YES, they have been sued many times for this!
Watch your pay... Commission tracker works rarely.. and almost always your check will not match yourexpected earnings... So many layers of management Asst. Store Manager, Store Manager, Area Manager, District Manager, Regional Manager, Regional VP... te list goes on... and No One has the answers! Software that is slow on it's best day.. half the country on 1 software, the rest on another.... REally? The worlds largest retailer of Mattress'????
Look at the Glassdoor.cm... 58% iof the employees would reccomend it!!!What? Really.. just over half.... 35% turnover in the first six months?! It's simple... this bad economy has great people...working for less than great companies.. like Mattress Firm.... when the economy and job market improves the losses by the firm will be huge!
They claim to have a foundation for pancreatic cancer.. they sell $36 cost pillows for $129 with "the proceeds going to the foundation".. oh, correction a PORTION of the proceeeds.. meaning "cents" Whatever may appeal to the public eye!
They focus on community involvement.... they promote people for that casue... let alone do not do anything for you if you do the work... let alone you are working 50 plus hours weekly.... Make a wise choice.... look into anyone and everyone before buying or going to work for someone... This was a huge mistake for me.... and obviously thousands of others.... look above...

Its called a JOB. A sometimes you have to work more then usual. I myself work on salary. Do I think its fair that I get paid less then an hourly employee. HELL NO!!! But you know what, I have a job and I can support my family. Americans are ALWAYS looking for the greener grass. The other side ALWAYS looks greener. But the reality is that its ALL the same s**+++Y brown color.
This is the state of our economy. If you dont like what you are asked to do, then TRY and find another job. But even at its worst, a job is 100X better then NO JOB!!
