I have worked for May Trucking out of the Brooks Oregon terminal for almost a year. As a new and entry level driver fresh out of truck school I was eager to get a career started in the trucking industry. In this time May and it's employees have asked me to falsify my logs book, cheated me out of detention pay and recently they demanded I drive my CMV on a truck restricted route in Atlanta Georgia.
The last one is my focus for this complaint. I received a dispatch to pick up a load in Atlanta Georgia and deliver to Pennsylvania, I was in Montgomery Alabama at the time. When May dispatches you, you don't get your route information until AFTER you agree to the dispatch information. When I received my route information I always start the process of reviewing my route before a start rolling so I am familiar with my route during my trip.
First thing I notice there is no route from my current location to the shipper in Atlanta and the route they have listed in Atlanta is a TRUCK RESTRICTED ROUTE. I double check, and triple check my route again before I sent my first Qualcomm message requesting a TRUCK SAFE ROUTE. I wait and get no response, I send two more messages on the Qualcomm requesting a TRUCK SAFE ROUTE through Atlanta.
Now the funny thing is with May is that want to follow the route they give you and not to deviate from it in any way. But when I call May and ask for help with my route they tell me my route was already sent on the Qualcomm and to follow the route given. This is when I try to explain to Benny( the night dispatcher) that this is a truck restricted route. While on the phone with Benny I have 3 Atlanta maps in front of me that I'm looking at, yes 3 different maps of Atlanta in front of me.
Benny (the night dispatcher) gets extremely upset and tells me to follow the route given to me by May. Again I try and explain the truck restriction on the route and am told to follow the route and not argue with him.
Long story short, Benny (the night dispatcher) tells me to take an Interstate that is not even in the state of Georgia. Again I remind you that I have 3 maps of Atlanta in front of me! Well end the end, I refuse to take the load and explain that May forcing me to drive on a TRUCK RESTRICTED ROUTE!
I was made to look like a fool and treated like garbage when I tried to confirm my route information and explain to May the situation. May get some respect for your drivers or you will spend most of your time watching us clean out our trucks and pissing in the breakroom coffee!
