These folks are still at it, and the biggest issue is the constant threats. We sent part of the system back a year and a half ago and never got credit, and they continued to automatically deduct lease payments until the bank stopped them. We had a buyer for the equipment after our business closed and they would not respond. They DO NOT want resolution! They want money we do not have, and they are at the bottom of the list right now. What recourse is there - they say we owe over $5000 on now outdated equipment. Unfortunately it will probably hurt our personal credit.

MBF has been doing it for years and the only money they get I believe is from people that cave in and pay. There are hundreds of complaints already with them everywhere and if this went to court, the judge would see that this is a scam. Since it would be a civil case, the judge would be looking to make company "whole". Since the equipment is worth only $200, judge wouldn't enforce you to pay much more than that.
MBF will keep threatening to take you to court and hope to intimidate you and get some $ from you. There's no incentive for you to pay, even if you do get sued then in the worst case you will be on the hook for same amount anyway (courts almost never make you pay for the other side's attorneys fees).
There's a ton of evidence and complaints that you would bring with you to show that it's a scam and a judge wouldn't enforce the contract. Don't worry, even if you signed something that said you will pay $5k for a $200 equipment, if it's unreasonable, it doesn't get enforced.
