And so there is no rebuttal given to my, or Eugene's comments, only those that blame the insruance company. This report should be removed as wildly irresponsible and predjudicial. The compaintant seems to blame the insurance adjuster at every term and for some reason wants to blame McAvery and Eugene for the insurance companies findings. Find the insurance company please and blame them for whatever you think went wrong. Don't blame the moving company or the man who tried to help you.

You admit that you thought the company and the movers did a good job. You claim to have tipped the movers a large sum of money, and you admit that you thought the company did a good job. It's not the fault of the moving company that the insurance adjuster did not agree with your claim. I'm not suggesting that the mirror in question was NOT damaged in the moving process. But wether it was or not is inconsquential. The insurance adjuster, who I believe is NOT an employee of the company in question, did not see it that way. Company's purchase insurance for a reason and they are often at the beck and call of that company's policy. The owner of the company even AGREED with you and called the insurance comapny to come out a second time for you. And you're dragging his name and his company's name through the mud because some BS insurance company gave you a hard time. You should be angry at them! NOT Eugene. NOT HIM. Not McAvey Movers. The secondary party, i.e the insurance company is the one who screwed you. McAvey Movers has no othe recourse then to follow the words of their insurance adjusters and follow whatever they say. They have the final word. Not them. That's why they use an outside insurance company. Look I don't know you. I don't know the insurance company, and I really don't know anyone at McAvey Movers. I've never used them, never worked for them, never worked with them. But based solely on YOUR claim and what YOU have said, there is absolutely no reason to trash this company. The insurance company that McAvey Movers uses/used is clearly the one you need to take issue with. And to place the blame on McAvey is irresonsible and utterly repugnant. You should be ashamed of yourself for your report.

Greetings internet savvy folks, I have been an employee of McAvey Moving Company for ten years now and let me tell you--this report hurts. I hope that the gentleman who wrote this report understands his actions here. I understand his frustration but the downfall of such a report is affecting a number of men and their families. Every time someone looks up McAvey on-line this report comes up and our reputation is spoiled. As I have stated, I have been working here for ten years now and I started as a summer helper and am now a crew chief. I can ASSURE every one reading that this company not only takes care of it's employees but EVERYONE INVOLVED is looking out for the best interest of the customers. We are a group of men that take a huge amount of pride in what we do and what we do is extremely hard work day in and day out five to six days a week. I have had countless, literally COUNTLESS HAPPY AND SATISFIED CUSTOMERS over my ten years of employment here. I have known the moving business and professional movers for a long time and all of the guys in Westchester know what a great reputation we have here. You have VERY rarely, if ever, seen an ad for Mcavey Moving and that is because, after twenty years of being in business, McAvey's work is all generated through word of mouth. As a crew chief I know better than anyone that once in a while, stuff breaks. We all feel badly when it happens but it is bound to happen at one point or another. I am sorry that the insurance adjuster "changed his story" but he is a THIRD PARTY PERSON and what he says has to be taken as just that. He does not work for McAvey. I know all about deductibles and unfortunately in this society, we all do. It sounds to me like your damage didn't hit the deductible and the THIRD PARTY INSURANCE ADJUSTER gave you a couple of different stories. Well, I'm sorry if he didn't give it to you straight and I know it must be extremely frustrating to deal with your personal belongings (the mirror) being damaged but the fact is, the damage just didn't hit the deductible. That's the long and short of it, I guess. I ask you to please reconsider your bad review here as it literally is affecting all of us and our families. We do care. McAvey does care. Trust me and please reconsider. Sincerely, Mike Williams Crew Chief--McAvey Moving Company

McAvey Moving Comany of course will deny all of my report, of which every detail is true. This is the type of company they are. Refusing to take on any responsibility for damage done by their movers and refusing to pay on damage to insured furniture appears to be business as usual for McAvey Moving Company. As for denying their movers received the tip, this is irrelevant. I tipped the movers well because they worked hard, over a very warm two day period. The moving men earned their money on this move. I have never believed the damage they did was intentional. My complaint is not with the men who moved, it's with this company and how poorly they handled a legitimate damage claim that should have been covered under the extra insurance we purchased. At this point I have written off the damage and had to absorb the cost of damage to our furniture as well as the cost of additional insurance taken out with them in the original move. The unethical nature of both McAvey Moving Company is obvious when I look back at how the insurance adjuster at first said he never saw any damage, then changed his story and said he felt the damage he saw was due to poor construction of the furniture. If their intent is to not honor their insurance coverage I paid for and to lie in doing so, they should at least be consistent in their story. The only true statement that the owner, Eugene made in his response is that I had said I would tell others of my bad experience with McAvey Moving Company, which I will continue to do. I will not post anything more here and I am satisfied that you, the potential moving customer have got the message if you are reading this now. I have taken the time to write about this company only to warn others that despite their initial friendly appearance when you call them for an estimate, this is not the company you want to hire for your move. Best regards, and good luck with your move, A former McAvey Moving Company customer who learned the hard way!

The customer who filed this report did not tell the whole story. A moving company purchase insurance to cover themselves if anything should happen to a customer's belongings. In return the customer purchases from the moving company a dollar amount of valuation. Each customer has the choice of declaring the amount of valuation they wish to cover their goods. The cost of the valuation varies based on the dollar amount and deductible they choose. In this case the customers choose a deductible and the insurance adjuster determined the repair of the mirror was lower than the deductible. The customer than asked me to wave the deductible. When I told him I could not, he got very upset and said he would bad mouth our company to everyone that would listen. I know that moving is not an exact science and some times things get damaged. When a claim is put in, I leave it to the adjuster to determine the extent of the damage and pay my share. I am not going to be intimidated by anyone just because they don't like the out come. Sometimes I know that we did not damage or cause the claim, but if the adjuster said it could be transit related I have to abide by there decision and pay it out. The customer also states in the report that our priced was more than other movers. When I checked his file and the salesman's notes, it specifically states we got the job because of price. As to tipping the men $150.00 each, I talked to some of the men that were on this job and the do not remember a $150.00 tip. They would remember $150.00 tip.
