I purchased the car 11/28/2008 from mercedes benz of tampa. the car had a sticker on it , that I still have that said it was a CPO car. The sticker that they put on the inside drivers door is also on the car. There is also a liceisnce plate that was on the car that sez certified preowned that I still have.
I had trouble with the car in febuary of 2009 and the work waas covered under warrenty, which I come to find was the balance of the manufacturers warrent.
In July I took the car to my mechanic cause the computor was reporting the rear brakes were needing to be changed. He said that the brakes did not need to be changed but the intercooler was reporting a problem thats why the car was running funny. He said it should be covered under the cpo so he checked it out for me and said mercedes did not have any warrenty information that the car was certified preowned. It turned out there was a hole in the intercooler that he ended up fixing.
I then began looking into the warrenty issue with the dealership and they said the car was not a cpo vehicle and would not talk to me about it. I went out of town for a week andd the first time I drove it the transmission started acting funny. This scared me cause transmission usually cost alot of money. I began to have conversations with mercedes of noth america and explained to them all the paperwork and so forth that said my car was cpo vehicle. Thy finally responded that the car was not a cpo vehicle.
I went into the dealership with the car to have it checked out and brought all my evidence with me. The sales manager told me it was not sold as a cpo vehicle, but said he understood my confusion since everything said it. He advised me I would have signed something saying it was a cpo car, I advised him I was never given anything to sigh except a deial of any other extended type warrenty which they have sevral. These are extentions, tire warrenty ect. I and my wife remember saying why do I need to buy an extended warrenty if I have the cpo warrenty. The finance manager at that time said nothing else.
Next the sales manager took the paperwork to someone else and when he came back said he understood my confussion and the as a good will jesture would look at the car also giving me the impression that they knew that I should have the warreny on the car.
I left and received a phone call saying it was a part of the transmission and that they were covering it they just needed a release to sign the work. We agreeed to do this via email. In my email I asked if the release was just for this work or was it a release out of the cpo warrent, Their responce was that the release was for this work only. I got an email about an hour later to clarify that this was the only work they were going to cover under the warrent. My warrenty should go till June 2010 but they at this time said I have no cpo warrent.
When I went to get the car I signed a release, but it does not release them from the warrenty because they are still saying it was not sold as a cpo warrenty. I am fed up with mercedes benz and want to put the car up for sale. It would be worth more if it still has a warreenty and would be easier to sell.
I beleive I am due the balance of the warrenty and they know it, that is why the (little guy) needs help to honor the warrent they know they owe me.
