I needed an engine for my car so I used a search service and was contacted by several vendors including Mid-City Auto Salvage. They quoted a price of approximately $1500. delivered for an engine that supposedly had approximately 45,000 miles on it. They also claimed "All engines are started, inspected, compression tested, cylinder leak down tested and checked for oil pressure." This guarantee, coupled with the price made me choose to order from them. Well, after waiting over a month for the engine to be delivered, and being assured that everything was fine, that the engine had just been misdirected, it finally arrived. A couple of weeks later, and $1000. of labor later, the engine is installed and started... only to have no oil pressure and a rod knocking within thirty seconds of ignition. Their claim to have tested the engine had to be a lie.
Then came my ordeal of trying to talk with any customer service agent at this company. Some guy name Shaun seems to have his voicemail on but never returns calls. On the off chance that he does return your call, he provides no help, just asks you to resend items he already has, and tells you to call him back again. So far I've called about twenty or thirty times, and I've been called back twice. When calling as a disatisfied customer, the phone is never answered. They'll answer it if they can sell you something, but once the sale is made, fat chance getting anyone, especially this Shaun character, to call you back.
Good thing I charged this on my credit card. I might be out the $1000. in labor, but I'll fight the charge... to the last. These guys are con artists. I wish I had seen this website before I ordered this engine from them. Don't make the same mistake of doing business with these clowns. If any there are any lawyers in the house, I'll gladly fly up there to file suit for the $1000. in labor, as well as my time and effort dealing with this unscrupulous company. Nothing annoys me more than being ripped-off.
