We went to Monterey Park CarWash at around 2pm on June 12th, 2005. After the whole process of the car wash, as we were about to leave the site, checked the compartment and found our digital camera gone. But there is no way to reverse back because there was a car behind us so we have to turn out and U turn back. We immediately approached the Manager.
Aside from the vacuum and drying part of the process, we will keeping an eye on the car the whole time. There were 4 people servicing us, 1 on the vacuum, 2 on the wash, and 1 on the drying part. Since we were looking out throughout the wash part, this means the other 2 were highly likely the ones who stole the camera.
We reported to the police, couldnt find the camera (which is obviously 'conspiracy'). The lady behind the cashier (i assumed is the lady boss) was very displeased with us. She wouldnt let us borrow her phone to call the police, told us to walk to the nearest phone booth to call, and refused to give us our receipt for the car wash. At about 450pm we called the carwash place to check on whether there is any progress, but the lady on the phone was very nasty. She babbled and hung up almost immediately. I didnt understand what she said, and she didnt even give me a chance to say anything.
The camera with the memory card is not cheap. Just want to let the public know there are very dishonest people working in this car wash, and the boss is not the most helpful. If you ever want to get a car wash there, just make sure everything is with you... even your quarters because I heard of complaints that money were stolen from cars. As for me, I'll go back to my regular place on Mission+San Gabriel, where I get the best service.
