Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
About 1 month before Christmas, my wife saw an advertisement on the television for Singer Smart Scissors. She had asked me purchase 2 pairs for Christmas gifts, so I did. I was called on the phone about 3 or 4 times within the next 4 weeks by very pushy salesreps urging me to purchase additional products and services through their company.

Even after declining offer after offer, I still received their mailings/memberships - four total. When I realized I didn't want to proceed with any part of their companies offers, I called to cancel my membership(s). On 1-16-04, I received verbal confirmation that all my memberships were to be terminated and was given an ID# of the person who I was speaking to. The phone calls stopped, but the mail still came.

When I called the 800# to cancel my membership, to my surprise, it was already terminated. I thought nothing of it until my bank statement showed an unauthorized charge for $98. After yet another call to MWI, my account was credited the correct amount. Recently, I was checking my account - debits, checks, balance, etc. only to find that MWI had taken $14.95 out twice since all the cancellations. The latest one to come at a most inopportune time which caused an insufficient funds charge from my bank.

Once again, I contacted MWI and spoke with a supervisor and had quite an experience trying to convey to him that he needs to cancel my membership across all departments of MWI and promptly return my money back to my account. The supervisor had tried to use a bit of leverage by informing me that all my benefits with MWI were going to be discontinued immediately. I was quick to let him know I wasn't using ANY of the benefits from any mailing I had received, he stopped stressing the benefits issue.

It is a shame that such a reputable name brand like Singer is going to get such bad publicity from their affilliation with MWI. My wife and I have since decided not to purchase anything from an 800# advertised on the TV again.
