My Twinn Doll ripoff! They lied about shipment then they went out of business. Denver Colorado
Our 6 year old daughter wanted one present for Christmas more than anything, a My Twinn doll. While similar to the American Girl dolls, My Twinn Dolls could be customized to look quite similar to your child. On November 17, 2003, we ordered the doll and a matching outfit for my daughter and paid for standard shipping to the tune of $186. According to their catalog and website, having ordered on that date, the items were to be delivered within 4 weeks, meaning 12/15/03 at the latest. We received confirmation of shipment on 11/26/03.
Not having received the doll, on 12/18/03, I called My Twinn to inquire as to the status of the order. Their phone tree would not let me get through to customer service, claiming that they had more than a one hour delay in calls. Their phone tree did say that all holiday orders had been shipped. Not being satisfied, I called back and pretended to be placing an order - I got a live person on the line (Jennifer) in less than 2 minutes.
I explained the situation to Jennifer and she told me that there had been a problem at the warehouse, but that the order had shipped on 11/26 and would be received by the last business day of the week, Saturday 12/20/03. I told Jennifer that I expected the order and that I wanted my shipping an handling credited back as they had not delivered on time. I also asked for a tracking number but was told by Jennifer that she could not give the tracking information until 20 days after shipment and 12/18 was only day 19. I told Jennifer that it was 31 days since I placed the order and demanded the tracking information, but she refused and told me to call back on 12/19.
On 12/19 I called back and could not get through at all - message said the company had temporarily suspended operations. Later on their website changed to reflect this too, but promising all orders for the holidays would be received. On 12/20 I disputed the charge which was placed on my Amex card. and my wife placed a separate order with American Girl which was received on a rush shipment in two days so that my daughter's Christmas would not be ruined. The cost was considerably higher.
As of today 12/23 - still not doll! I am glad that consumers can no longer order from this fraud outfit and hope that their employees rot in hell for all of the children who didn't get the dolls they wanted at Christmas. Jennifer, I hope there is a special section in Hell for you, you lying B***H, where you will be tormented for ruining the Christmases for sweet little children. God Bless AMEX for taking the charge off my card.
