The New York City rental and hotel market is insane with rates that are 4-5x more expensive than you would typically find.  MySuites.net defintely take advantage of this and advertises hip boutique suites in the best parts of New York City at reasonable prices.

I found them through AirBnb but they said due to the nature of my booking that AirBnb was not flexible enough to book the 2 week stay with the weekend in between.  I should have recognized this red flag.

I commute to the city on business weekly and was looking for a regular place to stay.  I inquired about 2 - 2 week stints (separated by a weekend) 04/08/2013 & 04/15/2013.  They responded that they had availability, but not in the same suite for the two weeks, which was fine because I wanted to find a quite I liked and schedule regular stays.

They sent me an reservation agreement form that included both dates, prices and credit card authorization.  They included a particularly thorough cancellation policy including clauses that claim that "in the event you should post a negative review or comment concerning mysuites, that for any reasons mysuites consider it a breach to these terms and conditions, mysuites shall exercise any remedies available to it to protect its reputation, including an action in defamation, if appropriate.".

I thought nothing of their policies, but now see that it's clearly language of an organization with bad buisness practices that try to scare peopel inot taking action against them.

After I submitted my reservation I asked for a confirmation number. They sent me a confirmation fo rthe first week and then said "we will have the confirmation for the second part of the stay by tomorrow sorry for teh delay".  The next day I inquired "Hi. I need to look for another spot if this is not confirmed soon. ".  No answer.  The third day I responded "Anything on this booking!?".  To which they responded "no Peter, so sorry is confirmed that is not available after; if you don't find anything we might be able to help you for a fe weights, just let me know".  They cancelled my second week and booked it with someone else.

I thought this was unprofessional and was not someone I would want to stay with week after week so I requested to cancel the reservation.  They proceeded to keep the deposit on the entire stay!

First of all, the original agreement was for the entire 2 weeks.  They cancelled the reservation on me.  I did not cancel on them.  Secondly, why would they keep the deposit on the entire stay???  Lastly, instead of trying to work it out with me, they just threatened with legal action.

DO NOT book with MySuites.  They are a scam.

The rebuttal above is a demonstration of how they do business - with little attention to customer service.  They are in the hospitality industry and demonstrate not a stitch of it.

The amazing part of their rebuttal is their attempt to smear my name and my company's name.

  • I did NOT make the threat they they claim - That is a flat out lie.
  • I do NOT live in St. Petersburg - I live in New York City now.
  • My company is NOT based in Florida, it is based in NYC and never was based in Florida.
  • My company is NOT and SEO company - If you follow the links above - we are a marketing platform for the physical world - NOTHING that is SEO related.

Im am not the only only complaining about similar unprofessionalism and I'm actually glad I did not stay there because these review also say their units are filthy.  Check out this other review:

#4UPDATE Employee ..inside information

Wed, November 13, 2013

Mr. Peter J. Quintas, of St. Petersburg, FL, made a request of 2 separate reservations during the time frame of April 8th, 2012 and April 15th, 2012. Rate quotes were sent by email and clearly disclosed the amounts and deposits of each stay.

By the time we received the booking form filled out by Mr. Quintas, we informed Mr. Quintas that   the second part of the stay was not confirmed, so we asked what to do.

His reply stated, “Yes. Book next week for sure. I’d like to book both. You should have the paperwork.”

After Mr. Quintas submitted the reservation form and filled out the credit card details, the reservation was confirmed and booked as he requested, and we informed him that the second part was still to be confirmed and no booking deposit was taken.

Two days later, his assistant more than likely found a better deal for the entire stay and decided to cancel the first reservation we processed. We informed by email that the booking deposit is non refundable. Once this was maid clear she no longer asked any question. She then disappeared and no longer got I touch with us.

Very Surprisingly. Mr. Quintas disputed his charge of $460.00 3 times with Amex. All three times Amex close the dispute in our favor.

He then proceeded to complain to the BBB, which was rejected.

We advised him that if he was insisting to try to dispute the charge that Amex. We will have to send the charges including the legal cost to the collections agency in Florida, as per terms and conditions.

This is the response we received from Mr Quintas:

(the Internet is my trade and I am an expert at search engine optimization and *will* ruin your reputation online)

We found out Mr. Quintas is a CTO at Nomi,  www.nomi.com, or www.getnomi.com, which is an online reputation company based in Florida,

In summary, we found out that his aggressive and unusual attempts for demanding unjustified refunds were supported by the online power of his company.

Mr. Quintas probably uses those kinds of threats often as a regrettable practice to create fraud against small businesses like us.
