I signed on to Napster in September and downloaded their software just to buy one song and ended up buying two. I had to give my credit card # to do so -- not a problem. Somehow they also charged me $14.95 for a monthly subscription but never confirmed with an email like reputable companies do.

The only way I knew was by reviewing my next monthly credit card report. I promptly called in October, demanded a refund and removal from the subscription service -- the rep agreed but did nothing and did not even record the call.

The October charge showed up on my Nov card report, so I sent an email and called on 11/10, and they agreed to refund and change me to the free Napster Light. The refund showed up on 11/13, but they charged me another $14.95 on 11/14. I never used the monthly service.

These folks are crooks (not just complicit with piracy as in their former life) or totally incompetent.

To put it simply, there are a-holes in every company. So you got one bad agent on the phone, it does happen. As for the refund then charges, the refund you recieved was for the charge that came after it, if that makes sense. For some reason banks have refunds hit the account alot faster than charges, the charge that you saw the day after the refund was in fact the charge that was refunded in the first place. That is not a Napster issue, if you have a problem with the speed at which charges hit your bank you should talk to.....the Bank. Also, you would have recieved several emails, however the domain you were using probably put them into the spam folder, as most things deemed automated are. If you give your credit card number to a company, I would put their name in the allowed list of your email. When you register, it plainly says on both the first and last page that you are signing up for the _____ account. In your case, To-Go. It also gives you the option on those pages to change your choice. If you signed up for a to-go account, and we billed you accordingly, where is the incompetence? ALWAYS read the Terms and Conditions before giving ANY information!
