On February 01, 2008 when my daughter was wanting help for her drug additions. we found a number on the internet to call for rehabs. I received a call back from intake counselor Micki Allen @ Naconon. I proceeded to inform her of my daughters drug preferences and issues. I was told the Newport Beach facility would be perfect for her and that she would send me an email to educate me on the program. On 2/2 i did infact receive the email and no where does it state that there is a "no refund policy".

I contacted Micki on 2/5 to let her know that my daughter would be going and so i asked about the payment terms and i was informed that i could pay $15,500 to hold the bed, then $13,500.00 due on 2/12.

On 2/7 my daughter arrived at the facility. she did call me from the cell phone of the driver that picked her up from the airport, then again once she did arrive at the actual facility. after about 3 days at newport beach at our request to was moved to the San Diego location to finish the program. Once she was there i received 5-10 phone calls a day for the next 4 days of how bad this place was and how much she hated it. Every time i spoke with her she was crying. I was very reluctant to believe her at first, as i know that all drug addicts lie, but when she started saying they kept telling her there is no "god", then i was concerned.

After a total 7 days on 2/14 she decided on her own to leave the facility. On 2/25 I called Narconon to find out about refunding my money at this time i was told to send June Rosenberry an email explaining my refund request. Still again no mention of "no refund policy". From 2/25/08 till 1/09 i have sent email after email and calls after calls with no outcome.

Finally in April I received a call from Julie Bryant who wanted a clear explaination of why i was asking for refund. I was told at the end of the conversation, to give them 3 months from the requested date to get the money together for the refund as they were a "non-profit organization".

3 months came and went, so I started the whole process over again. Sending emails and calling. Then in 6/08 I received a letter from June Rosenberry stating the "no refund policy" and attached was the release of liablity and admissions agreement that my daughter had signed. This was the first time i knew that these even existed.

Everytime i would contact June about the refund she simply would not answer me or would state she was gathering information.

In august 08 my daughter was court ordered for involuntary commitment to drug and metal health facility. i notified Narconon that my had been court ordered and she would be unable to return to Naconon, as this is their big issue for "no refund". Their statment to me is that she is always welcome to return at anytime at no charge.

I submitted every paper and supplied them with every bit of information that they asked for - still no refund. This has been ongoing for 1 year now with no refund. I am out of options and also money since they have held it hostage for 1 year now. i have been unable to help my daughter with any futher treatment since the beginning of this nightmare. I hope that no other parent goes thru what I nor my daughter has been thru with this whole situtation.

Hi, Michelle...

Sorry to hear about your run in with Narconon and the Church of Scientology (CoS), which is who is really behind Narconon.

When it comes to refunds from a Narconon facility, your request is sent "uplines" to... guess where? Right, the CoS Finance Division. The division gains "stats" for bringing in money, but gets "downstat" for losing it, like in the form of a refund. Also, there is a LOT of paperwork, backstabbing and bureaucracy, not to mention inter division squabbling in CoS which slows everything down.

Let me give you a link that may help:

(((Redacted)))

It has information regarding how to get your money back from Narconon/Scientology. Please be sure to read other information on the site about how Narconon and Scientology work using false hope, promises and dangerous pseudo-science to get your money through your loved ones and possibly embroil them in Scientology. I promise you, it's an eye popping read.

In fact, the very facility you refer to in your report is now being sued. Filed June 29th 2009. You can read about that here:
