Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
After being told I could cancel my subscriptions at anytime I tried several times to cancel two of the magazine subscriptions (Organic Style,Working Mother) and they confirmed the subscriptions were canceled but they continue to send me a bill that I refuse to pay.

Since I will not pay for the Subscriptions of magazines that I no longer recieve I have their lawyers sending me letters saying that I owe NME a ridiculous amount of money and now by credit is being hindered by this bill.

I get daily harrassing phone calls for these bills at home AND work. I need to some how get this company to understand I DO NOT get these magazines and they NEED to clear the bill. They also stated I would get a free watch for signing up for these magazines which I of course have not recieved.

Listen. Take a look around you. Name one business that does not try to upsale. When you go to a fast food restraunt, restraunt, whatever, someone is going to try and upsell something. McDonalds and Burger King want you to supersize, Restraunts want you to order an apatizer, and a dessert. I am not saying that these things are right or wrong. What I am saying is that that is the way this country works. Stores will suggest things to you, restraunts will try and get you to order more, regardless of weather it is with bright flashy advertising or with a person asking if you want bigger or better or more, the American dream is to make money, and everyone will try and put their hand in your pocket. Read all of the fine print, listen carefully to everything that is being offered and be sure and clear on what you agree to. I am sorry if you feel that you are being scammed, but in all truth, if you agree to take a certain number of magazines at a certain price, then you are going to pay that price unless you cancel all of them. More people in this country need to take a closer look around. It isn't just you, I got "suckered" by mwi*connections, for failing to read all the fine print and pay attention when I tried to take advantage of a free sample offer. You are not alone in this, but at the same time, you can't blame a company for your own lack of attention. It happens to the best of us. Either cancel all of the magazines immedietly, or pay the price. Don't blame them for your mistakes.

Lisa, goes to show how NME works, your comments make that clear for the whole world. The company you work for scams people, plan and simple, why do you think so many are investigations are launched around their scam and this company. Your attack of this poster is what these places want, they want to see the stupidity of their employees. As to the poster, you have laws that protect you from this scam and the harassments you've received. For the scam itself, notify your Attorney General's office, go to their consumer protection division. For teh harassment, the FTC has the "Fair Debt Collection Act," to protect people. In this act, they can not contact at your place of work and you let them know you know this and to stop. If you tell them to stop calling you, they must stop calling. You can go to www.ftc.gov and look up all the rules governing harassment. If they don't stop, file a complaint with the FTC. The FTC is already hot on their trail as NME sacam is listed in the top 5 scams of the nation for 2003. They get thousands of complaints on them. You can also contact all the credit buearus, send each of them a letter (keep a copy of course), tell them that any report to your credit by this company, their affilates and their collection aencies you want to disbute. Make sure you tell them the scam they run, send a copy of this report and pull a few more off, with the same type of problems. The Credit Agencies have to investigate within 45 days. Good luck and keep us posted.

Pay attention to what you purchase

the magazines that you purchased are a package deal you get all of them together for the same price. It doesn't matter if you take two, three, four, or five magazines you still pay the same price. Maybe you should pay closer attention to the things you purchase. Cancelling two of your magazines will not negate the fact that you still have to pay for the package. Also the free gift is for paying customers only. Hopefully this clears up your problem.
