Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My husband and I purchased a manufactured home from Oakwood Clayton Vanderbilt in 2004.We took out a construction loan with them to cover the cost of land, home, well, etc.

They ended up not paying the last $4,OOO of that loan.

We went to see a lawyer and he told us they can not get by with that because it is against the law.The lawyer would not represent us because there was not enough money involved but told us to take them to court.

My husband went to Oakwood Clayton Vanderbilt in West Sacramento and told the manager what the lawyer said. The manager laughed at my husband and said "you can not do any thing because the main office is out of state in Tennessee."

We had Oakwood Clayton Vandebilt served but not one showed up in court. We won the case but it did no good because we can not collect from out of state. We are out the money but the amount of the loan included the total amount and we have to pay it back even though we never received it.

When we refinanced our home we were told again that Oakwood Clayton Vanderbilt can not get by with that because it is against the law but so far they have gotten by with it.

In a nut shell we have to pay back $4,000 we never received. They also damaged the sides of our home when they moved on to our property and were supposed to be back to fix it but never did.

We were told at the time of purchase that we were lucky to be dealing with Clayton because he is a very rich and successful man.Now we know how he achieved that;by ripping off senior citizens.
