Oakwood Homes - Vanderbilt Mortgage - Clayton Homes Your warranty issues mean nothing, and you will not receive assistance. Ripoff! Greensboro North Carolina
I made the mistake of letting myself get suckered. I bought a so called "home" from Oakwood in 1998. We all know that Oakwoods unethical corporate practices brought them to bankruptcy. Clayton homes bought what was left and Vanderbilt assumed the mortgages. My question is who handles the warranty agreements. So far noone does.
My roof is near collapse in my living room. It has a ten year warranty AGREEMENT which should belong to Vanderbilt. Somehow they claim that even though they own the house the warranty issues belong to a liquidation trust from Oakwood. This so called trust does not exist.
The number that is given to me by Vanderbilt is a service department for the manufacturer. The guy who answers says he not familiar with any trust and he's just a service guy. When a contract is signed, is it not a binding legal document? If Oakwood and Vanderbilt can back out of the warranty portion of the contact then its proof that we have all been scammed. Heck, the roof doesn't even have felt paper under the shingles. Shingles only over non-treated plywood. I wont even mention the warping of the floors and numerous other defects in the "home".
A class action suit is neccessary against Vanderbilt and what is left of Oakwood. Oh and by the way, I have never, ever been late on a payment. I still can't get assistance on this issue. For those of you who are occassionally late. Dont feel bad, we all get treated the same way.
