Several months ago I found this company while surfing for computer repair .. "most problems can be solved in 15 minutes", so they give you a 15 minute "check-up". Annual package for monthly Optimization and problem fix is about $200 and they gave me 14 months. Selling point:address ANY problem with ANY eripherals from ANT manufacturer, as printer, fax machine, etc.
I believe they try to do the right thing as they spent many hours trying to fix my computer problem, but as they kept installing their software, and attempting to install even more, the computer got slower, and slower and eventually froze, un-bootable. On the phone they suggested I take it in for hardware repair. $175 and 2 weeks later I got it back. "Don't let strangers into your computer .. we had to take all this CRAP out of it" Then it worked fine. Aside from the numerous hours on line, approving continue OK's, the money for repair to my local shop, reinstalling all my programs and the total frustration was insane. Then after I got it running PERFECT, defraged, scandisk, creat Restore Point, cleand out temp files I contact them again for a "simple" optimization. I figured a monthly tune-up is good preventative medicine.
They started the Optimization process, I authorized entry, looked like it was all under control in their hands so I excused myself via chat and went to work. Came home, woke up the computer, see an ERROR with red "X", hit OK and rebooted. Slow, freezing up, programs don't open, F2 to open Windows, sticky cursor IF it moves at all.
Boot up my other computer, get my email and there's a survey/comment section below ALL the functions they performed. WHAT!!! Leave me hanging then ask for a Pat on the back??? WTF!!! Still I submitted a neutural survey with a major description of what I'm experiencing. Very upset that the tech didn't even check to see everything was working as it should or he'd noticed it was hung up.
I connect to their chat window, paste the long, detailed observation and my dissatisfaction with the days events, included my case # and let a teck in again. Apologetic he assured me he'd remedy the situation. After an hour of poking around, doint nothing but opening/closing windows he replys via chat "we have a techinical problem here" and disconnects.
I send an email, HEY what's going on here??? After 4 hours of no reply, can't get connected on chat, on hold on phone, I'd HAD IT! Ran AVE virus program and it found 3 viruses, cleand and removed them ... a FREE program did what their numerous installed software didn't find. I then Uninstalled all their software, removed everything from Registry, went to do System Restore and ALL points were removed. GONE! The only tool which would have saved my a*s has disappeared.
Last night I purchased a $40 System Suite, read the manual, installed and went through all the recovery processes available. Found and fixed 145 Registry errors, 600+ fragmented files, and is still grinding. NO HD problems, then God.
I usually didn't have trouble contacting a support team, they spend numerous hours attempting to fix problems but I feel they are limited. They have their standard procedures for "changing the oil but not fixing the engine with a knock in it".
In the event I can't get my computer running normally I'll have to take it back to my local tech guys ... another $175 and another lecture I sure don't need. Be forewarned my friends.
