First things first let me say that I have been a loyal customer of TigerDirect for many years now and have bought from them for both personal and business products.

Up until now I have had absolutely no problem with TigerDirect, especially in the rebate department. That was until they partnered with OnRebate.com.

My last order (totaling very close to $1,000) had 4 items with rebates that were to be claimed through OnRebate.com. One was an acer laptop with a $50 rebate, the second was a dvd burner with a $25 rebate, the third a seagate hard drive with a $50 rebate and finally a memory chip with a $20 rebate. The total of these rebates is $145. Pretty good return on my investments considering that I had just dropped a grand on my order right? Wrong, read on.

I mailed everything in as directed making sure that everything was in order and all forms were signed if required. Then I sat back and waited for onrebate.com to receive my rebates and process them.

Finally on 1/19/2006 I receive 3 emails stating that there was a status change in my rebates. I quickly followed the provided link hoping that I was finally getting my refund. What I received instead was this.

My $50 rebate on the acer laptop was denied according to them due to insufficient documentation and no signature on the rebate form. The $50 rebate on the seagate hard drive was denied because of conflicting data (address missing from invoice). The $25 rebate on the dvd burner was denied due to insufficient documentation and no signature on the rebate form. And my $20 rebate on the memory has yet to be received but I'll wager that it will be denied as well.

Do you see a pattern here? The problem with this is that the exact same packing slip and invoice were sent in to claim all 4 rebates and the reason for denial on one of the rebates is different. Shoudn't all of the reasons be the same?

Just to show how much of a scam this is I'll let the readers of ripoff report in on something even more interesting.

The seagate hard drive also had a bonus $10 rebate on it that was through seagate themselves. I sent the exact same packing slip and invoice to seagate for the $10 rebate and what do you know it was approved. When this happened I knew I had been ripped off.

Anyway after finding that my rebates were denied I decided to contact customer service through email. I first contacted them on 1/20/2006 to try and see if there was any way to "fix" the problem. I received an automated response stating that someone would contact me within 72 hours.

Wow a response within 72 hours now that would be something wouldn't it?

Not getting my hopes up I waited and heard nothing. My last email was sent on 1/27/2006 and so far I have not heard anything at all from this company.

The bottom line is this, stay away from any product that has a rebate through onrebate.com unless the price before the rebate is worth it.

Chances are you won't get a rebate from onrebate.com no matter how meticulous you are in preparing the information for them.

As for TigerDirect.com I have nothing bad to say about them they have always provided great products and top notch service but this partnership with onrebate.com is beginning to taint their name in the eyes of the consumers.

Be sure that you contact TigerDirect and let them know this as I am sure that if they receive enough complaints they will cease to do business with such an unreputable company as onrebate.com.

If you have been scammed into the whole rebate charade file a ripoff report and be sure to contact the better business bureau and file a complaint with them regarding your experience with onrebate.com.

You may also want to contact a state representative, congressman, or anyone else that may be able to help stop this company from defrauding consumers.

First off Pete you need to read my report a little better. I did not state that they said they would pay I said that I received confirmation that the funds were transferred to my PayPal account. So yes I did get my money. If you on the other hand are reading this and have not been paid then by all means pursue other avenues of action whether it be by consulting with an attorney or whatever methods available to you. I however did not have to go that far to receive my money I simply contacted Nadina at [email protected] and she helped me out. If that would not have happened then I myself would be pursuing other avenues such as Pete is now.

Don't IMAGINE they'll pay until you RECIEVE payment!

Listen, everyone here!! Don't let this go just cause they say they'll pay. Many people have been told this and still don't get paid 8-10 weeks later...after the intial 8-10 weeks. I am talking to a lawyer friend and he knows attorneys that do class action. He's giving them the info and this website as well as other info to see what they can do. Class action attorneys love this kind of stuff and I was told it will cost me and any others nothing as they will sue to cover all costs. There's a lot of formalities but we'll see what they can do. I'll update at my claim or wherever I can to inform all. Pete Boise, Id

Rebates finally approved, payment received.

For those of you who have been following this you know that I had sent an email to [email protected] on 2/01/2006. Well I did receive a response from her on 2/08/2006 and in that email she stated that I would be able to resubmit my forms either by faxing them to her, mailing them to the OnRebate resubmission department or by scanning them and emailing them. Well I decided that faxing the forms would be best so I quickly gathered my forms together and faxed everything to her. On the following day 2/09/2006 and much to my surprise all four rebates went from being denied to approved on the same day. Finally today 2/13/2006 I received email confirmation that all rebate funds had been transferred to my PayPal account. I have to commend Nadina for doing such a great job at handling all of the unhappy consumers visiting this site and I must urge anyone having a problem using OnRebate to contact Nadina directly at [email protected] As a side note I do however feel that it is absolutely unacceptable that a consumer should have to go through so much to obtain a rebate (ex: finding this site and finding out who to contact to get a response) and while Nadina is doing the best that she can to handle the complaints of every person that contacts her I think that it may be impossible for her to handle them all. One person alone cannot make a company into a reputable entity and as such OnRebate needs to hire more people like Nadina so that they can process complaints and resubmissions in a more timely manner so as to avoid gaining an even more unfavorable reputation.

Email sent to [email protected] as they said to do on other Rip-off Reports, still awaiting a response.

Well after posting here and still receiving no response I decided to send an email to [email protected] seeing as how she appears to be the only person at OnRebate responding to the complaints on this site. My email was sent on 2/1/2006 and so far I have not received a response but I'm sure that she is swamped by the many people visiting this site so now it comes down to time and patience. I will update again if and when I receive a response.
