Onyx Motors Michael Thomas sold me a car where the motor was going bad in it and became nonresponsive when i discovered the problem Fairburn, Georgia
On March 24, 2012 i purchased a 96 green Toyota Avalon from Onyx Motors for two thousand dollars. I pulled off the Lot in the vehicle made two stops and at the second stop noticed a ticking noise coming from the engine. I immediately called Michael Thomas (the detailer for Onyx Motors and a friend of the family at that time) to let him know what was going on with the car, and him and the owner of Onyx motors have been none responsive since.
On March 23, 2012 Michael Thomas brought the green Toyota Avalon over to my mothers house to show it to me. I test drove the car around the neighborhood and stood outside of the car to listen to the engine, which at that present time was not making the ticking noise.
I asked Michael Thomas a couple of questions about the car like was there anything wrong with it and will the guy be willing to give me a warranty. I also asked that if there was a problem to come up after i purchased the vehicle would the guy give me any hassle if i needed him to look at or maybe even refund my money. He assured me that there was nothing wrong with the car that no the owner wouldn't give me a warranty but he would however fix on the car or refund my money if had any problems with the car.
So I decided to go ahead with the sale. We then went up to the lot(Onyx Motors) so that i could meet with the owner and finalize the deal. After waiting for nearly two hours and already having paid my money the owner still hadn't arrived so we decided to get the paper work done the following morning because it was getting late.
I arrived the following evening to pick up the car and do the paper work and still there was no owner but he had all my papers ready and me Michael Thomas sat down and went over them. While completing my paper work Michael Thomas tells me that the owner was like because i did not pay full price for the car that if anything was wrong with the car that he wouldn't fix on it but if i felt like it was serious that they guy was a pretty decent guy to do business with and he wouldn't just let it slip under the bus. I drove off the lot went to the store and then to my mothers which is when i discovered the ticking.
I immediately called up Michael Thomas to explain to him what was going on. he told me to give him a min he would talk to the owner of the lot to see what was going on and get back in touch with me. because he did not respond back immediately i had the car still the following day so i got my uncle to look at it to see if he could possibly tell me what was wrong with the car. he told me that there was something wrong with my valve system and that i needed to talk back with the owner of the lot because a valve job was kind of pricey.
Days and weeks went by i still hadn't got word from the owner and now Michael Thomas has become non responsive. In that time i have gotten several opinions on what the problem could be and each outcome has been the same. One Mechanic told me that i could probably use an oil change that could be why the valves are sticking and making that noise. I got to oil change and there is still a ticking noise coming from the car.
I believe that the owner of Onyx Motors and Michael Thomas were just out to get money and sold me a faulty car.
