Booking the property was the only part of the process that was positive for me.  I felt the rental company truly cared about making my vacation a great one and that they would be providing awesome customer service from start to finish. (Boy was I wrong!)  I must say, I was a bit disappointed when I arrived at the home and there was not even a welcome letter from the agency.  I'm used to getting welcome envelopes from other agencies! 

There was a moldy coffee filter in the machine when we arrived which indicates a lack of professionalism on the part of the cleaning crew. I felt the cleaning of the property was substandard. More importantly, the lack of care and inspection of the property itself by Outer Banks Blue is a shame.  I signed a contract for almost $4000 on a place I had no way of viewing beforehand and come to find out upon arrival that the a/c unit was completely broken and in disrepair prior to our vacation time!

The owners should have immediately given the okay for the repair of the a/c unit.  The rental week was Saturday to Saturday, a new central a/c unit wasn't being put in until Friday. 

My guests and I left the property a day early because we had such a nightmarish ordeal with both the property and rental agency.  I was told that a new a/c unit would be installed Monday night or at absolute latest Tuesday morning.  The a/c unit was not being installed until Friday around noon. We suffered through 3 nights of sweating without a/c, 2 nights trying to sleep in what sounded like a boiler room and a night where it sounded like we were in a wind tunnel.  Only 2 of 4 bedrooms on the lower level were capable of window a/c units.  Note: I didn't sign a contract for a rental with window units either.

After calling the rental manage on 3 occasions I received a callback 12/13 days after my first call! 
Sadly, I missed the call and found out from a message the owners would be reimbursing me a measly $400 for my nightmare!  This isnt satisfactory and where is Outer Banks Blue portion of a refund to me for their total lack of professionalism throughout?  I don't feel like arguing with this company anymore because I'm certain they dont care at all about making up for what my family and I went through.  I'm still shocked!  BEWARE to anyone who is thinking of using this company for their vacation!

The one good thing I can say is that the home had a wonderful view but even that couldn't make up for everything I went through!

Furthermore, The above is the actual review I submitted to FlipKey through an email invitation link from Outer Banks Blue.  FlipKey has removed my review after someone from the rental agency protested my review and the only explanation Im given from FlipKey is that my review violates their terms and conditions.

Ms. Greenwood,

We again apologize for your upset relative to the air conditioner during your stay.  We are surprised to see your upset weeks after your departure as we of course talked to you several times during your stay and we thought the matter was being handled to your satisfaction.  The owner was faced with a costly repair to the a/c unit on the lower level of the property and he did seek a second opinion before spending the money to completely replace the system.  We of course did provide window air units on that level of the house during the repair process so you would remain cool, and your comments now almost seem to connotate that there was no effort made to resolve the issue.  It was no ones intention to give you less than a great value to your vacation and again we thought this matter was resolved to your satisfaction.  The fact is that renting someone else's 2nd home sometimes does present issues that need to be dealt with during a guest's stay.  It is our mission to minimize those issues, and solve them as quickly as possible.  We feel that we did indeed do that with regard to the air conditioner.  We also beleive that there was no cause for you to have to leave early as you outlined in your review as the lower level air conditioner was fully functional once it was replaced.

In terms of the cleaning we frankly heard nothing from you during your stay about cleaning and would have been happy to address that immediately.   This is a basically equipped property, but all of our properties are impeccably clean and we don't normally deal with cleaning complaints like this.  We apologize for that.

Sea Vue does have a remarkable view and we appreciate you acknowledging that.  It is one of our most popular properties for that very reason.

Our web site www.outerbanksblue.com does have numerous pictures of all of our properties as well as full descriptions of the homes we offer.  Many properties even have virtual tours where you can see 360 degree views of each room in the house so there is never the feeling of getting less than expected.

In this case it seems as though you feel you were shorted on your vacation value and we regret that.  We hope to serve you better in the near future.
