Palm Harbor Homes Buyer Beware should of had 8-1/2" insulation in cealing and instead has 1" Internet
Buyer Beware
My father purchased a new Palm Harbor Home in 1999 and was delivered in the spring of 2000. He ordered this home with many options. Part of the package was that he would receive an R30 insulation value that my father paid for. I spoke with a cellulose insulation company and told them what Palm Harbor told me that insulation deterates and will need replaced and they laughed. They said the insulation would last as long as the home. This home is 12 years old and Im sure its service life is much longer than that. They also told me that Cellulose materials at 8 inches of cellulose loose fill equals R-30. My father recived less than 1 that equals a R-3.5 and he didnt get what he paid for. We relized that it wouldent be covered under warranty but he should have recived what he paid for. Read the email they sent me why they cant help me. I couldent beleve the part about the insulation deterating and having to replace it. Below is a copy of the email they sent me.
PALM HARBOR HOMES CUSTOMER SERVICE REQUEST Mr. Monschein, Unfortunately, there is nothing that would be under the warranty for the insulation in the ceiling. It will settle and deteriorate over time and may need to be replaced. There have been changes and improvements to homes as HUD requires, one of these would be energy efficiency. If you have questions about your fathers home, you can contact the factory at 800-729-4363.
