Patriot Homes / BBB ripoff, THEY GOT THEIR MONEY WE GOT THE SHAFT!! Lafayette Indiana
2/24/04:
We had a really bad experience with Patriot Homes Of Lafayette Indiana!! The walk through should be done with a fine tooth comb! Seeing as you only get one, they try to rush you through and anything you miss oh well "It wasn't there on the walk through" and look for more damage as they do work.
The service man cut the linolium in the kitchen in front of the dishwasher when he pulled the dishwasher out to fix it and guess what? It wasn't there when we did the walk thru.
WATCH OUT FOR A SEAM IN THE COUNTERTOP NEAR THE SINK as in the walk thru we noticed that it was seperating and swelling. Took them over a year to get a new counter top and guess what it had the wrong edging and the backsplash is not replaced yet either. So our counter tops don't match and we are going on a year and a half now! How's that for service??
Watch for them to get paid off from the bank before they are complete. So make sure that you have to SIGN BEFORE they receive any payments to the stage that they are completed!! Also watch in the bathrooms where you might have carpeting around the edges. The carpeting had the strips thru the carpet and we found out they will cut your feet while you are on the commode.
If they say it will be anchored with straps and lag bolted to the sill plate (HAVE SOMEONE CHECK IT )ours wasn't even anchored and a quick call telling them it was off the foundation after a storm asking if they had good insurance got someone out here to fix it lickity split LOL!! Why wait for the obvious to really happen? We paid to have it anchored too!
Read the small print at the bottom of the contract where it says you have to use arbitration thru the Better Business Bureau (where they pay to be a member) talk about the FOX GUARDING THE CHICKEN COOP! HEHEHE We aren't done yet but if anyone else has something they would like to add or ask please feel free to we have full documentation and records of all phone calls, every work order, and notes left by their maintenance man.
NOTE: The maintenance man can only do what the sales manager will let him do!
Called the BBB today and they didn't even have any info on the paperwork that I sent them on 11/3/03 which was faxed but to no surprise guess what? The gal I talked to and sent it to said they didn't have anything and that some other guy (I wasn't even dealing with) no longer works there and as of this date 2/24/04 THERE IS NO SATISFACTION YET. Called the plant service manager today and he said that the sales manager in Lafayette was not going to do any more until the BBB thing is cleared up!!

But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business?
