Due to a unproportionate leg impairment, I searched for board certified surgeons in northeast Ohio that provided calf augmentation surgery & stumbled upon Dr. Paul Vanek. During my Initial consultation I expressed my shortcomings & my desire to mend my impairment specifically with calf implantation & was given a price quote of $5,800 in which I then supplied my down payment & reserved a date for that specific surgery.
During the consultation Dr. Vanek recommended that I instead go along with an alternative procedure of 'Vaser' liposuction & fat transfer, a technique he prides in developing by extracting "viable autologous fat" & transfering the harvested fat to a requisite area. I was given an extravangant price quote due to the fact that the alternative surgery requires lipo of multiple areas & the fat transfer (let it be known i am a already slender person). I originally declined his recommendation as to my main focus was my soley my bilateral calfs & the alternative procedures was beyond my budget.
After, I was still largely being presented with Dr. Vaneks implication of the vaser lipo & fat transfer in which I did ask if the fat harvested would dimish or simply "melt away" I was told No. I recieved a call from the surgery coordinator Mary Jo that Dr. Vanek permitted a discount to $5,900 for lipo of the inner thighs & transfered to the bilateral calfs. I was given a whole spiel of the supposed benefits & results I would get with the procedure.
I went to Dr. Paul Vanek in good faith & put trust in his credentials so I gave in to the recommendation & went for the alternative surgery. I received the surgery at the end of May of this year. Doctor Vanek was late to my scheduled surgery. As soon as I awoke from surgery in the recovery room I immediately observed my legs to which a volume enhancement on my bilateral calfs was barely noticable & "thigh gap" I was told I was to have, was not present. I mentioned my concern to Dr. Vanek which responded that he did extract from the area & a thigh gap would show as I heal.
Afterwards during post-surgery follow up appointments I continued to exhaust my concern regarding my lack of result & was always charmingly dismissed by Dr. Vanek & the surgery coordinator. I was told every excuse from saying for me to just wait 3 months for my final result -to that the reason Dr. Vanek didnt lipo my inner thighs completely was because he didnt want me to end up with excess skin?? (im 5'5 & slim 120 lbs & never been overweight to even have excess skin) -to the reason I got the result I got was due to my budget; Unjustifiable excuses.
At my last follow up appointment of my 3rd month final result, in which I was left to wait almost an hour before he came to see me, I again addressed the matter gracefully. My final outcome of the recommended surgery was Defective. The supposed viable fat that was transfered did indeed Disintegrate/dissolve & my legs were left to appear exactly as before! I have before & after pics as well as testimony from my mother & everyone who knows me to prove.
I was told by Dr. Vanek that the only amount of fat extracted & tranfered was the equivalent to a half can of soda! He also said that he told me prior (he did'nt) the not all the fat cells would survive after transfer. Knowing that my surgery was defective & that He insinuated I get the alternative procedure, he & his office representative tried flipping it all around saying that I wasnt forced to go with his recommendation & that it was my choice.
My main focus since the beginning was soley mending the impairment of my bilateral calfs by calf implantation -Not having multiple surgeries using his proclaimed lipo techniques including other parts of my body. He convinced me. I paid in-full thousands for his service to mend the impairment of my bottom legs & got an empty result.
I got ripped off. I go to bed disappointed & wake up disappointed everyday. Dr. Vanek & his practice are manipulative & disregarding & would not do any revisions for quality or reimburse even a portion of the persons paid expenses regardless of receiving a botched or defective surgery. Karma is real & when it comes & goes around that way -I hope I hear about it
