On Sunday, March 2nd, 2014 I took my 2004 Chevy Impala into this particular Pep Boy's because it was the closest to my home. I went there to purchase 4 new tires for my car and that was it, there was no mechanical problems with my car, this was all preventative maintenance.

During the course of them changing my tires I was informed that I had bad wheel bearings on the front of my car. They told me that they could put on new tires but getting a proper alignment with bad wheel bearings would be pointless. I agreed and told them to go ahead and do the wheel bearings also.

3 hours after they had started, Jason Mcdaniels(Service Manager) comes to me and asks me if there was a trick to starting my car because they cannot get it started. I told them no there is no trick you just put the key in and turn. It has cost me $957.00 so far, the car is paid for and I am ready to go home and they cannot get my car started.

They had started it to pull it into the initial bay to do the tires. Then they started it again and pulled it into another bay to do the alignment. Now my car will not start at all. they ask me if I have another key because the one they had had a chip in it and it did not work. My wife bought this car brand new, she is the only one that has ever owned it, and there has never been another key, and there surely was no chip in the key they had or any other key for this car.

Sunday night at 6:30pm I was told that I had to go home because the store was closing and I would have to call tomorrow to see what was going on. My wife had to take that Monday off and we were called at 10am Monday morning and told that the ignition cylinder was bad and that it was my fault and I would have to pay another $400.00 if I wanted my car.

What happened is the day before the young so-called mechanic broke the ignition and all of a sudden it is my fault when they had started the car twice to do what they had to do.

Needless to say, I will take every chance I get to tell everyone I ever encounter what a terrible, crap-hole this place is.
