Phaze 2 Dishonest Scout & Staff Long Island City New York
We were approached in the mall by a scout for Phaze 2. I was apprehensive and asked the cost. I was assured it would cost nothing. I pushed further and was told the company can offer you other packages, but completely at your option. It will cost you nothing.
We received a call a few days later to set up an appointment. I asked what is the appointment for exactly. They told me they had an upcoming ad campaign for print and billboard work. They wanted to see our children, see how they photograph, how they interact with other children, and adults. I was told to dress them "casual cute" as they would be photographed that day.
When we arrived we waited an hour before we were seen. We were taken to an office, with plenty of celebrity snap shots, shown head shots of children, magazine ads of children they had worked with. We asked how the arrangement works, what percentage does Phaze 2 take. They answered nothing. We were confused and asked then how does this work. She informed us that they aggressively market your children to the industry, they have the right contacts. We then asked what is the incentive for you to get our kids work if you get nothing from the process? She said we know how to get your children work and you need some one to put them in front of the right people. We asked how they do that. She explained they will photograph our children make them "look smart" then market them. She showed us the packages, they began at $500. We asked what the printing fees would be. She informed us there is no printing cost as the photos will be posted on their website. We then asked how they could "aggressively market" without sending photos. Explained its all electronic now. Having friends that are actors printed head shots are key! So they aggressively market through their website, the leading modeling agents and managers check in daily with Phaze 2?
We asked to see the agreements on she was holding. She explained they are not agreements but the terms of the photo shoot and when did we want to schedule. We said we needed to think about it. Once she realized she didn't make the sale she pleasant, smiley demeanor quickly changed to rude and uninterested. I thanked her for her time and offered my hand. She handed me a business card without even looking at me.
This is an incredibly overpriced head shot agency. I wish there had been a review like this before I wasted half my day traveling and waiting in their offices.
