I've paid every payment on time, not once have I had insufficient funds for a payment. Now that my computer is going to be paid off this month, I called to tell My Computer Club, that I want to cancel my membership. I was then told that if I cancel, they will remove all my payment history from my Transunion credit report. I said, so basically I would have to pay membership fees the rest of my life to keep that payment history on my report?, and the person I talked to said yes that's just how it is.  I then called transunion, and asked them if that was legal, and they said it is, and that I can ask MCC to keep the payment history on my report. This is what is on the MCC website:

16. Will my positive payments show up on my credit report?
Yes! We will report your positive payment history to Trans Union. Our program can help to improve your credit score. All positive payments are reported to Trans Union, a major credit agency. A positive payment history can help to build or re-build your credit rating.

This company should add that you will lose all payment history on your Transunion report if you cancel your membership. So unless you want to pay membership fees to them for life, don't bother using them to build your credit.

misunderstanding?

It's seems there is a misunderstanding of what happens when canceling the credit line if you have financed through us.

There is no way we can remove payments from a credit report or manipulate it in any way. What happens is the same when canceling any credit card. The account closes and shows as closed. This may or may not create a negative effect on your report since you will have less accounts open on the report. It just depends on your credit history and how much credit you have already.

When a member wants to cancel we want to make sure they understand what may happen with their report so they are not surprised, that's all.
