I am very careful about stuff like this and there was NEVER a text sent to ask me to upgrade the battery app. I too was duped into the so called "free" app ploy. This kind of practice is shameless. There should be a law against companies that do this sort of thing. People today have limited money and companies like yours have to pray on people. Makes me sick!!! I'd ask for a refund of $9.99 for the last two months but a doubt I'd get it.

I too fell for the *free* improve-battery ad, and never received anything else except texts which were useless. There were no additional opt-in texts, nothing sent to email, and nothing indicating there would be any future charges.
When the $9.99 appeared on my cell phone bill, I had to look up where it came from. By that time I had already cancelled the unwanted, useless texts.
I have requested, but am not optimistic, that Verizon remove the $9.99 fraudulent charge. There is nothing indicating there will be any monthly charge and I am contemplating whether or not I should pursue this further, seeing how many people have complained about this scam.
