Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
to keep this very simple they tell me i had an account with a bank 15 years ago but dont have any proof i get a phone call every so often at whicch time i remind them they are not allowed to contact unless it is in writing. I called this bank i was suppose to have the account with directly and asked how far back they could check and i was told that i NEVER had an account with them... Look i will be quit frank cause im not going to get bent out of shape we all know that this company is a rippoff (choosing my word cause i dont want to get in trouble) and they are ruining peoples lives to make a dollar.

first of all is that even legal to attempt collection after 7 years much less 15years.

i would love nothing more than to see a massive lawsuit where the people who were done wrong actually get some of the proceeds. For example everyone in SC who has been rippedoff by these people need to file a lawsuit against them together and make it as public as possable like national news public lets get some news reporting on what kind of company they are and who they do business with or lets get the goverment involved. Apparently no one is paying attention they need to be shutdown.

1 lawsuit per state if it could be done this way im no attorny but i think every state has different laws.

i had the idea just have no clue how to put it into motion.

keep you eyes on your credit report

Use the FTC guidlines for Fair Debt Collection

#2Consumer Suggestion

Thu, April 12, 2012

I too have been bothered by PRA trying to collect a "zombie" debt. The original "claim" was from around 1999 (they never have provided any documentation).

When they first contacted me 9 years ago, I asked to be provided in writing with details about the amount they alleged that I owe. I was told that they could not provide me with that information. Sometime later I sent a certified letter informing them that I dispute their claim and without written proof I regarded it as unfounded and thus would not pay and did not wish to be contacted regarding it again. This worked (or seemed to) for several years.

About a year ago they renewed their efforts by calling my work number. I was surprised to hear from them again and told the caller as much. I also told them about the previous attempts and my responses. There was a lull of a few weeks and then they started calling again. Other than a being nuisance it is not that big a deal. Yesterday they left a message on my company answering service saying that this was an attempt to collect on an outstanding debt which seems to be a violation of the FTC Fair Debt Collection Practices Act subsection 805 paragraph b. If you are experiencing a similar experience with PRA I suggest you read it for yourself at: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf.

I would not, based on my reading on the FTC website; threaten action lawsuit or otherwise, pay any amount which (apparently) resets the statue clock or be abusive or aggressive to a calling agent. The next time they call, I will however ask and write down all the information suggested in Tagurit's post and then send it (certified) to PRA in the format listed in 805 Paragraph C which clearly states the desire to Cease Communication.

If you took the time to read this I hope you found it helpful. BTW.. I do not owe the amount in question ($207 ) and while it would be easy to pay it just be done with it, as a matter of principle I refuse to succumb to what I regard as coercion and regard my stance as a deterrent to future attempts to unjustly aggravate me and tarnish my character (and bank account).
