Public Power Stamford Ct Bait and switch scam Promise to save you money, then gradually raise rate with no notice or reason so that you end up paying much more than CL&P our main Ct supplier. Stamford Connecticut
Switched electric generating service from CL@P to Public Power, Stamford Ct. on their promise to save you money. In March 2014 they raised rate from 10.99 to 15.99 with no notice. If you did not read fine print on back of monthly electric bill it would never be noticed. Between March and November it cost me an additional $220.00. Numerous calls to company and promises to call back to discuss never happened. During this period CL@P's rates were 9.49 or 9.99.
In correspondence between BBB of Ct. and the company Councel, Martine Trinka, (would not respond to me but did to BBB) she stated that rate hike would be for only several months. Mine lasted for 8 months and $220,00 of overcharges.
She continues to refuse to answer why rate stayed so high and it appears that Thousands in Ct. are in the same category of variable rate customer and are being cheated every month. Their current published rate is 10,49. But variable rate customers are still unwittingly paying the 15.99.
