I had received a quote with Steve from Ranlife of $1609 at 4.5% for total closing costs on 8/1/2013. I signed and locked that day at the rate and price. When it came time to close 8/9/2013 the closing costs had increased north of $3k. I had my realtor call the mortgage officer and he agreed the fees are incorrect. He told us that he accidentally printed the original quote on the HUD statements but that he will get them fixed Monday 8/12/2013. Let me also add that we had a 3rd party notary for the docs, there were no representatives from the title company or mortgage company present.
At this point I was too deep to find another lender and I signed the docs based on Steve's confirmation it would be fixed. When I brought this up with Steve in the following days, he never addressed the situation and I was referred to his "manager", Jesse. Jesse was completely unhelpful as well so I was then referred to his "manager" Adam. After all the run around I finally had someone to speak to. Adam was professional for the most part except he was difficult to get an email response from. His explanation is that Steve gave me a quote 8/1/2013, but I locked 8/2/2013. He said rates jumped significantly the next day.
I WAS NOTIFIED 8/1 THAT WE WERE LOCKED AND READY TO PROCESS. NEVER WAS I TOLD WE DIDN'T LOCK AND IT WAS PUSHED THROUGH TO 8/2. Adam's logic is because I signed the ppwrk 8/9 at closing, I knew what the fees were. As I stated before, Steve agreed they were wrong and was going to get them fixed. To this day, Adam still hasn't responded. I'm very very disgusted with the way things were handled. I had a significant amount of money down and flawless credit, several brokers were fighting for my business. I used Ranlife realty as well which was fantastic. I used them to buy and sell a home.. The mortgage division was by far a terrible decision. I'd never recommend using RANLife for a mortgage, never.
