I had a very bad experience from an internet automobile purchase. After finding my dream car (the exact model, color, options, etc.) on the net. I contacted the dealership, Ray Brandt Nissan, Inc. - Harvey, La. and spoke with a salesman. I had a detailed list of things that I discussed with him. I had him go outside and walk around the car describing the condition each panel, convertible top, glass, tires, fluid leaks, etc.

After being satisfied that the man was a "straight shooter", I made an offer and they countered and we finally agreed on a price. In the photos they posted the car had these huge plastic price stickers along drivers side of the car. The salesman assured me the car would be cleaned, detailed and my one owner, low mileage car (I did a carfax) would be ready for my shipper to pick up. He seemed very sincere and legit.

When the car arrived, the plastic stickers were half peeled off, along with some of the clear coat (paint), there were three bad places and one rip in the convertible top and damage to the rear bumper and right rear fender. The car was dirty and was never detailed. I called the salesman immediately and he told me to get an estimate. ($1500.) After faxing the estimate, I waited but no one called. I finally called and got the basic side step.

Finally I spoke with the used car sales manager (Troy) who "laughed at me one the phone" and told I got a good deal and they were not going to do anything to repair the damages they did after my purchase. I cannot understand why anyone would treat a customer this way other than just sheer greed. I am trying to decide wether to get an attorney and sue. However, I can warn people, do not under any circumstances believe anything the used car department tells you at Ray Brandt Nissan!!!!

"Our heat gun got stolen"?  Seriously?  Thats the best you got?

I am an impartial party.  I am however, in the market for a new/used pick-up truck.  I have recently shopped around and have narrowed my decision down to about 3 vehicles.  1 of those, is sitting on the lot at Ray Brandt Nissan.  After reading both the original report and the rebuttal, I must say I was not that impressed with the rebuttal.  I cant imagine Tom finding his dream car and was ok with it having "a rip in the conv. top, damage to the rear bumber and right rear fender."  It seems to me the most logical explanation is the salesman "stretched the truth" about the condition of the vehicle.

With all of that being said, i will not purchase a vehicle (new or used) from Ray Brandt Nissan!  Ever!

Thanks Tom...

Over Exaggerated and not very Accurate!

Over Exaggerated and not very Accurate! Mr. Tom, has left out many details to his story; as well as, exaggerated most of the facts about his buying experience. Mr. Tom contacted me in late January about the purchase of a BMW Roadster. He asked me to go to the car and he was going to give me a detailed list that he would like to go over before we proceeded with discussing figures. I did just that; I went to the car and phoned him back from my cellular phone. He proceeded to go down a moderate list and ask me questions about the condition of the vehicle. I answered each question with a complete and honest answer. I even went into detail about certain blemishes, flaws, and dings around the car; describing them to the tee. We then proceeded forward with negotiations on the vehicle. We came to an agreement on price and the vehicle was sold on an AS IS, basis. He was in complete agreement with this. I then over-nighted Tom some standard paperwork for him to sign and return to me in a self addressed pre-paid envelope from DHL, which he did. He also sent over a copy of his license and debit card info via fax to take care of the down payment. Mr. Tom wanted to use his own shipper company to pick up and transport his new BMW to him in Oklahoma; we normally use McNutt shippers as they are reliable and insured across the nation. Mr. Tom's shipping company arrived 8 hours late and they signed their own release form saying there was no damage to the BMW. When the vehicle got to Oklahoma it all of a sudden had a tear in the roof and a few other problems with it that were never there before. We had difficulty in removing the vinyl numbering from the side of his new vehicle, due to the fact that someone stole our heat gun and it was 38 degrees outside. I informed Tom of this before the car ever reached him and he said he would get them removed at his body-shop or go and buy a heat gun himself and take them off. Mr. Tom wanted his friend at the body shop do the work. He then calls me back saying that the clear coat needed to redone in that spot were the numbers were not fully removed. I told him to get an estimate and fax it back to us and will see if we can cover the expenses; at no point, did myself or the dealership ever promise Tom anything. A day later we received a fax back with an estimate to repaint the entire car. My managers were appalled with the quote and refused to pay this. They asked me to call Tom and tell him no and that because of the ridiculousness of the quote they were not interested in helping him out with any of the problems that popped up after the shipping company took the vehicle from us. Mr. Tom was informed of all damage to blemishes prior to sale and signed all paperwork acknowledging that the car was sold to him on a as is basis with no responsibility to the dealer to fix any later problems. Mr. Tom, also purchased a car almost six thousand dollars behind fair market value and now wants to nitpick the vehicle to death; as well as, wants us to pay for damages to the vehicle that we never caused or created. I was informed by the company that put the numbers on the side of the car that a day in the sun or heat gun would easily remove those vinyl numbers on the side of Tom's car. Many dealers around the nation use these same numbers with no damage to any vehicle. No one would use them if they ripped clear coat and paint of the side of vehicles, the cost to fix the so called problems that Tom is talking about would be astronomical. Ray Brandt Nissan has been in business now for 25 years in the community and is committed to customer satisfaction. In fact we were the only New Orleans Metro Nissan Dealer to win the Award of Excellence! This is a very prestigious award handed out to very exclusive Nissan dealers around the country who meet only the top standards in customer satisfaction. We can't apologize enough that we were unable to take off the numbers for Tom; because of the temperature outside that week and that our heat gun was stolen and we were unable to get a new in time to take the numbers off. We did try to work with Tom to resolve this matter, but Tom was looking for way too much and became outrageous with his demands. He is more than welcome to call any attorney he likes; as he stated, however we have photographs of the vehicle before it left this dealership with the minor blemishes and no other damage. Sincerely Tony B. Ray Brandt Nissan
