I am just very disappointed that after taking the first 60 hour core course that is required to get my real estate license in Texas, the web site lets you know that you have to take ALL the course finals away from the comfort of your own home....in a proctored environment, and there 150 to 210 total hours that need be obtained, or approximately 4 to 6 different courses. This detail is one that potential students should be well aware of. It has come to my attention that other online schools just make you take the course final online....and then you take your state final in a proctored envrionmnet away from home.

I called TREC, the Texas Real Estate Commission to set up my proctored exam for my first course, and they were UNAWARE that anyone would need to take this exam proctored !!!  and it costs money. And this is the TREC that said this.
I think this company should be more upfront about this with students

I don't work for realestatewhatever.com until your post last week I have never even heard of it. I was pointing out that you need to practice your reading comprehension a little more. It CLEARLY states on their website that the test will be proctored. You are all pissed off that it has to be proctored and don't want to do it that way. I'll quote the website AGAIN for you.

" IMPORTANT:
At the end of your course there is a final exam. In order to successfully complete a prelicense course, students must take and score a minimum of 70% on a proctored final examination administered in an educational facility by an approved, acceptable proctor employed at the educational facility. Complete information on finding a proctor is included in your course materials. We must verify each proctor that is reported. If you do not have a proctor present when you test, you fail that exam. Three are two final exams available. If you fail the first exam, there is a seven (7) day mandated waiting period. If you do not complete the make-up exam within a 90-day time period, we must report you to the TREC as having been dropped from the course. If you fail both exams, the TREC requires that you retake the course. "

While you may be right that texas doesn't reuire this, I have no clue I don't practice anything associated with real estate. This company does require it though. They told you they wanted it done before you signed up for any courses. Now you don't want to do it and are crying rip off.

I also love how whenever anyone disagrees with an OP on this website they clearly must work for that company. I don't. I know nothing about this company except what's on the first part of their website. I'm a chemist working in quality control at a company in missouri.

First things first...How's your job at realestateexpress.com Ashley ??  You are too funny.  Of course it matters

I think it's very important that the online school that I am paying good money to in order to take my courses in real estate....has correct information for each and every state that they offer courses in...

For anyone reading this far, you know that for some reason, realestateexpress is for some reason making me take all individual course exams away from my home in a proctored environment...which costs extra money. I did research and this is the only onliine school that makes you do this. Even the TREC (Texas Real Estate Commission) is not sure why this school does this.

Ashley is trying to make a point that I should have been aware of all of this...Well Ashley, this comes directly from Realestateexpress.com website

"Some states require students to take their final exams in the presence of a proctor.  If this is the case, you may be charged a proctoring fee.  The fee is charged by, and remitted to, your proctor.  Exam proctoring is a state requirement, and proctors are not affiliated with Express Schools."

Guess what Ashley ?   TEXAS DOES NOT REQUIRE THIS !!!!   I live in Texas and was not expecting any of this.

Waiting to see what on earth you can possibly say in response to these facts.

Oh, and by the way, I did go and take my first 60 hour course final today (and passed !).  The proctor was kind enough not to charge me, because she knew this was WRONG, But I could have taken this test days ago if Realestateexpress had correct information regarding Texas Real Estate Law.

Your turn Ashley :)

Does it matter why?

They informed you upfront that was their policy. You agreed to it when you paid for your classes. If you didnt want to take a proctored exam after every section, you probably should have gone with a different school. It really doesn't matter what other schools do, this school has decided that's how they wish to run their buisness.

I did sign up for the entire package.... 210 hours. All courses.. But for some reason real estate express is the only online school that makes you take a final after each course.... away from home and it has to be proctored. I can find no other online schools that make you do this. all others you can take all of the courses and course finals at home... Grade them yourself, and then take a proctored exam away from home in order to receive your certificate. I want to know why this online school is the only one that makes you take finals after each course....proctored and away fro home.

The website looks pretty clear to me on what you have to do to get your license. From the bottom of the page about the different packages they offer:

"IMPORTANT:
If you fail both exams, the TREC requires that you retake the course "

So they do tell you upfront that your exam will be proctored. Its not hidden. You just didnt read their website fully. Its not even in small print. As for the rest, you signed up for the 60 hour course and it clear states that you need the 150 hour course to get your license.

from the website:

"
Standard Package - 150 Hrs: Fast Track Special

Retail $820,
Now Only $299!
And Save $521!
Courses Only: Choose this package to satisfy the minimum TREC education requirements and complete the 150-hours curriculum the fastest way possible, for the lowest price in the state. Students who choose this have their own exam prep resources. You must have 60-hours of qualifying college credits with this package. No Guarantee included with this package.
"

So no where does it say you can get your license with the basic 60 hour course. if you fail this bad at reading comprehension in order to get your license, I worry about you selling houses.
