Red Zone Advertising first off says they are a sports marketing firm. Yeah right. Actions speak louder than words, believe me. This company has scored an 11 out of 10 on the scale for lack of professionalism as well as deceptive advertising in my opinion. I drove 2 and a 1/2 hours just for this 10 minute interview that was supposed to take 30 minutes as I was told my the rude receptionist. I was also told to bring a copy of a resume, which I forgot to make a copy so when I got off the exit I pulled over at a BP and asked for directions to a Kinko's or Office Max. After going through 3 people to get directions, I found one and ran in and made a copy. Took me 30 minutes to do, good thing I left early. So because of this I was already going to be 5 minutes late for the interview. Then I called the place to ask where they were located because I had trouble finding the road from mapquest directions, they still did a terrible job navigating me. If they had e-mailed me directions to the place from my direction like I asked them 2 times over the phone, everything would have been okay. So I finally found it and I was 10 minutes late for the interview. They didn't hold that against me because of their lack of communication and professionalism. Anyone who knows business knows you have to tell visitors, interviewees, or sales men how to get to your business. It's courteous.

Anyway, I walked in to their suite that looked like an old hotel room that just got exterminated and sat down. Even after being 10 minutes late, I still had to wait 10 minutes anyway because the interviewer wasn't ready. And I mean he wasn't ready. He had nothing in front of him to show me or the application he was supposed to give me to fill out. His dress shirt was not tucked in and he had a very loose handshake too. So I sit down for the interview and the first thing he said was "I don't need a copy of your resume by the way", then he brags about sports pictures on the wall in his office saying he worked for those players. Like I'm a fool to believe that. You don't play football in college and not know how the sports industry works. I already knew some about the company from their website and he gave me 2 sentences about what the company does and that was it. Didn't say a word about the position I applied for (entry level sales supposedly), which he should have done before asking me any questions. About that by the way, he didn't ask me any questions that related to the position itself. The questions I got were "Are you a sports guy, what sports experience do you have?" (dumb question and vaguely worded) and "Why don't you tell me a little about yourself?" (ok, in what way?, vaguely worded). Then right after he thanked me for coming down and said I would be given a call. Haha. So where that would leave me in beyond me. And there should have been more information to discuss too. When you have a 26 year old who claims he makes 60,000 a year, you will run into that.

Then I asked what Fortune 500 companies they worked for since it said that on the website but didn't list the companies. He gave a blank stare and long pause and said "Well we don't work for any." I asked him again "So what does Red Zone really do?" He said, "Well right now we are selling home-improvement products to various companies who need them." So I am thinking to myself "What does that have to do with anything?" People still don't get that sales and advertising are different things. So I just got up and immediately left when he was done. Even though the interview was really over for me, the minute he lied about what he has done for the company.

So in conclusion, what they say is true. Don't fall into these job traps that are entry level and no experience required. You will see why. Avoid Red Zone Advertising, sophomoric company, management, and brainwashing.

Similar negative experience in regards to fake interviews

It was toward the end of the school year, I got a voicemail and email from "RZA" and they told me they wanted to interview me. They found me through my university's website and being a marketing major I was thrilled of have that opportunity. I called and talked to a woman and set up an interview. (I'd like to note that they never referred to themselves as "Red Zone Advertising" in their phone calls and emails, it was always "RZA".) This would eventually be the last time I would have contact with them. After I talked with them I looked up the company's website, but was disappointed and felt uneasy with the lack of detail in describing all their big name "clients". On the day of the interview I showed up 15 minutes early and was well prepared. However, I started to worry when I saw the dilapidated building in which their office was located. I got even more worried when I couldn't see into the office because there was dark paper taped to the inside of the windows and a piece of paper taped to the outside of the door reading "Red Zone Advertising" in poorly designed WordArt. On top of that, the door was locked and it looked like the lights were off inside. I thought maybe they were still out to lunch and waited outside the office. Eventually, I met another kid in the hallway who was my age and was waiting to interview with Red Zone Advertising as well. We started to talk and he said he had been worrying about the interview for the same reasons I had been worrying about it. All of these factors added up to make me feel less than confident in the interivew I THOUGHT was about to take place. Low and behold, the kid I met and myself found ourselves waiting 10 minutes past our scheduled interview time. We had never encountered anything like this and decided it must be a mistake so we waited. It was finally around 30 minutes past our interview time and we decided no one was here and it didn't look like anyone was showing up so we both left. I got in my car and called Red Zone Advertising and got no answer, I tried again 15 minutes later and left a message saying I wasn't sure if there was a misunderstanding, but I'd be more than willing to reschedule the interview for a more convienent time. I never heard from them again. My opinion is be sure to research the companies before you interview with them, I was very displeased in the lack of professionalism Red Zone Advertising showed and from my experience I would urge others to stay away from them because I've heard nothing but bad things about them. From my personal experience I can say I would not trust them.

Red Zone is a professional, and respected company. We have a 2 to 3 year waiting list of clients who want our services. We handle accounts for every major league baseball team, except the Twins. All NHL hockey teams and many other sports companies. Home Depot, Direct TV, Sears, Subway & many other major companies employ our services. The New York Yankees George Steinbrenner employed our services - He was so happy with our work... He wrote a 6 page write up on us in the New york Times. This is all fact and is easily checkable. This gentlemens report is very far out in left field. And I can say whole heartedly - Red Zone is a great place to work and we offer our clients top notch marketing & advertising. Warm regards,
