I am currently attending Regency Beauty Institute tri county campus in springdale, Ohio. I have been a student there since the end of 2008. When I was looking into cosmetology schools Regency seemed to be the best I'd seen, hands down. I couldn't of been more wrong. I wish there would of been something telling me how things really were there before I started.
FIrst of all, the managers care more about their authority than they do about the students education. They will make you clock out for any reason at all. For example, a if they even see your cell phone they will send you home. Your purse and cell phone must be in your locker at all times. We aren't even allowed to put them in the cubbies at the stations. I am a 30 year old woman who has 2 small children and need to be reached at any time of the day.
There are an equal number of caucasian students and african american students. In the classroom a black student told a white educator "I don't respect white b***hes like you" that should of been grounds for immediate termination. However, nothing was done to this student. If you are african american you are allowed to treat people as you please. Apparently, they only go by the student handbook when they feel like it. They will not send certain students home even when they are out of line. Other students however will get sent home for the simple fact they talk a client into another hairstyle.
It is a complete joke. If you loved high school and the drama that went along with high school then Regency is for you. I have never in my life seen such pettiness and childishness in my life. People are constantly withdrawing from there due to the fact that the managers are power hungry girls who care nothing about the students. I haven't learned a whole lot since I've been there because no one will go out of their way to help you. If someone goes into the office to tell on you for any reason, if you are white, you will be sent home with no questions asked.
This school is racist and I don't want to see anyone else make the same mistake I have. Don't waste your money. You will be very sorry you did, I promise.
