I was a first time seller in the awful position of being out of state to complete a very close deceased relative's estate. I felt the best, most efficient way was to use a realtor to make sure everything was done correctly and Remax was recommended to me. It turned out to be the biggest first-time mistake of my life and I will try never to use a realtor again based on this devastating experience. Long story short,
I was given an agent who argued with me, yelled at me, never gave me a chance to decide anything, demeaned me for circumstances beyond my control and had me in tears until I finally switched to another agent. The second agent gave me closing costs which I reviewed, then she left for vacation and I was given a third agent who didn't know what we had done! I was faxed a contract with a page missing which turned out to contain a new seller's cost that was NOT included in the original closing costs and the name on the contract was wrong! After trying to deal with the owner I did involve a lawyer, but Remax would not fix the problems, they only agreed to a partial reimbursement and threatened to sue me if I didn't follow through with the deal! And to think I was paying them for this aggravation and to represent me!!! Add all of this deceit to the death I just incurred and it became intolerable to say the least. To help Remax sell the house I emptied it, got the entire inside painted, hired cleaners, scrubbed it, replaced light fixtures, had the landscape cleaned up, finally used a lawyer to evicted a tenant who wouldn't leave, put in three new doors, a new sink, remodeled a lower bathroom, had the rugs steam cleaned, put in a new driveway, hired a handyman to continue to watch the house while I went back to work, had the furnace checked, had the plumbing checked, had the garage door checked, got new locks, had a new driveway put in, had some unsafe patio blocks removed, had a new bathroom door put in upstairs, had a garbage disposal added- all in only the two weeks I was there- at a cost of over $12,000. Yet they refused to correct their mistake of not being truthful and changing the closing costs I was originally given (and signed for) by not giving me a only a few thousand they still owe me! Believe me none of this was worth the torment, aggravation, and physical and emotional trauma I went through. I would never recommend Remaxanywhere at anytime to anyone and I would caution others to sell it yourself before going through anything like this! You wuold think the bad publicity alone would not be worth it to them and that they would fully correct their fraudulent mistake. I did try to take this further by calling their Midstate Offices three times but never received any follow-up after three months of speaking to them and leaving messages. I am also thinking of going to a realty board and/or the BBB. I decided to report this after seeing report #211655 regarding Junction City Remax Realtors illegal acts and lies. I would be happy to have anyone contact me for more specifics or to share your stories.

I needed to include one more underhanded, last-ditch maneuver tried by the owner of this particular Remax office- he actually called my lawyer to ask him to meet with him and myself
to try to complete the sale even after his agent's deceptive contract! My lawyer told me about this conversation and of course assured me that type of meeting with the owner would never be considered or ever take place! It is hard to believe the deceptive depths Remax would sink to to make a sale.
