09/30/13 - purchased 2005 Mini Cooper from the Internet Sales Manager, Chris VerHagen at RiverFront Chrysler in Aurora, IL. With 58,708 miles on it. VIN: WMWRH33595TF83439. Purchased Extended Warranty through Chrysler, GAP Insurance, and etching. Vehicle report came back good on Autocheck. Extended Warranty through Mopar Vehicle Protection of Chrysler Group LLC. Service Contract # 38117242. Effective 09/30/13 to 09/29/16 or 88,708 miles.

10/04/13 - Brought car into Chris on the Engine light. Stated his used car mechanic was not in. He stated that the car was sent into Bill Jacobs Mini of Naperville for service in July because of a misfiring issue. Put new spark plugs in and was fixed. The car was on their lot since May of 2013. He stated he will call me to make an appointment when his mechanic is in.

10/06/13 - I took the car to Auto Zone to have it checked. They showed the 2nd cylinder is misfiring.

10/07/13 - Chris called and made an appointment to bring the car in to have it looked at.  Asked if I can bring it in on Thursday October 10th.

10/10/13 - I brought the car into Chris VerHagen at RiverFront per the appointment scheduled. He took it back to his mechanic and within a half hour, he stated they cannot diagnose it and I have to take it to Bill Jacobs Mini Dealership in Naperville, IL. That day I made an appointment with Bill Jacobs Mini for Monday 10/14/13.

10/14/13 - I brought the car into Bill Jacobs Mini. My service advisor there is Dean. Dean stated that the car was there for service in July for a misfiring of cylinder 2. Dean gave me a 2013 Mini cooper courtesy car to drive while they do repairs.

10/16/13 - Dean called me and stated cylinder 2 is misfiring and there is a problem within the engine that is related to the past repair. He stated they would need 3 labor hours to continue. Calls were made by myself and Dean of Bill Jacobs Mini attempting to contact managers at RiverFront. They were denying having any liability. We tried contacting the General Manager, Paul McSkimming but they kept saying he was busy. I went into the dealership and spoke to Paul myself. He stated that there is a 30 day waiting period on our extended Chrysler warranty. So leave my car wait till 11/01/13.

10/17/13 - I called the extended warranty company. They stated that there is no such thing as a 30 day waiting period. They said the dealership should have called them immediately. They asked if I took it back to RiverFront and I said yes. They said to have Bill Jacobs Mini call them for repairs.

I called Dean at Bill Jacobs Mini and he said he will call the Chrysler extended warranty. He called me and stated that the warranty company would not approve the labor to diagnose the vehicle. He said they will start working on the car to diagnose it.

10/18/13 - Dean of Bill Jacobs called and stated that it's a blown gasket in the engine that was letting coolant leak into cylinder 2 causing the misfire. Also stated that there is wear on the cylinder head and needs to be sent out for repair.  Stated that he's quite sure this should be covered by warranty but can't promise 100%. Stated the Chrysler Extended Warranty company will send an adjuster out on Monday for approval to be covered under warranty.

10/22/13 - Haven't heard on status of car. I called and spoke to Patrick at Bill Jacobs Mini cause Dean is on vacation. Patrick stated to call the warranty. I called Chrysler warranty and they said it was denied because this is a pre-existing problem with the vehicle before it was purchased and the dealership is responsible for the repairs.

I called Paul at Riverfront wants to wait till November 1st to re-submit the claim. He stated that Chrysler warranty will cover it and he won't be responsible for it.Called Patrick again, they are going to want their car back and my car repaired cause it can't sit there any longer. Said he will talk to his manager about this Wednesday morning. Stated repairs are $3500

I could make this a long drawn out banter back-and-forth.  But, I'd like to keep this a little more proper than that.

Originally, this vehicle was purchased for this customers son.  There was a situation where we took this vehicle to another dealership to be diagnosis for a problem with it and that dealer never found anything wrong with it.  Once, this customer had an issue with the vehicle, we immediately had her and her son take the vehicle to the same dealership to diagnosis the vehicle.  We were all prepared to have the vehicle fixed at no-charge to the customer and the customer started making claims to the warranty company about the vehicle and the "possible" previous issue (Remember, the intermittent problem was never worked on).

Therefore, we sort of, washed our hands of the vehicle because the customer was, obviously, handling the situation with the service agreement from Chrysler.

Then, customer said they have claimed to have paid $3500.00 for repairs to vehicle and we asked for copies of charges that were paid to other dealership.  We are willing to get involved in the costs of the repairs and haven't seen ANY bills, cancelled checks, credit card charges, or paid receipts.

Therefore, until something can be produced that shows the customer actually had something repaired and there were costs incurred to the customer, we won't get involved.

The Better Business Bureau has dropped the case because of this reason.  We, as an upstanding dealership with a A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau believe this is a scam.

10/24/13 - Patrick at Bill Jacobs of Mini in Naperville called and told me that the extended warranty won't cover it. Also stated that RiverFront Chrysler would be responsible for the repairs. I told him that RiverFront will not return my calls. I told them to fix the car and we will pay for it. Told him I turned him into BBB and see what they will do.

10/28/13 - Paul of RiverFront Chrysler called and asked about what is going on and stated that I authorized the car to be repaired. He became very rude and would not let me speak. Insisted I should have waited for the extended warranty to pass 30 days. I stated that it would not have mattered either way. The car had a pre-existing conditions that he knew about and will not take responsibility for.
He has now stated that the car did NOT have pre-existing conditions. He asked if he can help me in any way, I asked if he will pay for the repairs. He stated that won't happen. I told him if I have to I will get a lawyer and take him to small claims court. He said fine, you do that and then hung up on me.

Also called Patrick of Bill Jacobs and he stated that the car should be ready tomorrow, (Tuesday) October, 29th 2013.
Hoping BBB can help get this resolved with Riverfront.

10/29/13 - The car was completely repaired on October 29th by Bill Jacobs Mini in Naperville. I picked it up and paid for the repairs out of my own pockets. The car now runs and operates as it should.

Paul of Riverfront Chrysler has no care or want to even help me in this matter knowing this was a problem before he sold me the car. This is dirty and immoral. In good faith I think he would take responsibility in a problem and help a customer.

If he were to help me, I may consider buying a car there, recommend them to others, and commend them for their honesty. At this point, it's all the opposite. He also hasn't responded to BBB.

As far as I see, they don't have any bad marks on their records.

I hope he would take care of this situation through BBB before I will have no choice to take him to court.
