On January 30, 2009 I had mycar towed to Rodger Jennings Inc. in Hillsboro Illinois. The car had a miss on the number 4 cylinder, and my husband was told that it had bad spark plugs, wires, and coil housing. Before we were to pick it up at 3:00pm, they called and said it also had a bad fuel injector.
My husband informed them that he replaced the plugs and wires just the night before, they then changed their story to only the plug on the number 4 cylinder $10.00, the coil housing $127.00, and the fuel injector $172.00. He told them that we could get the fuel injector cheaper ($83.00 at AutoZone) and bring it to them.
We found out that they purchased the part from Autozone before we gave them the O.K.
When we arrived at the dealership around 4:00pm to pick-up the car they told me that the fuel injector was not the trouble, and the real problem was the computer for the car. We will credit you the $172.74 for the fuel injector but not the hour labor. They did not have a computer but told us it was another $530.00 just for the computer.
My husband told them we would locate a computer and bring it to them, he figured that if they can try to guess at what was wrong with my car we may as well get the parts as cheap as possible from a reliable source.
I received the computer on Tuesday February 3rd and delivered the computer to the shop. They worked on someone else's car until 3:00pm, then installed the computer in about 15 minutes. My car we were told, was ready for pickup at 3:15 pm.
We paid the bill of over $525.00 drove home, drove back into town for an oil change and went back home. I looked under the hood to find out where a gas odor was coming from. The fuel injector that they installed was leaking gas and almost on fire.
We took the car back to the dealer and they were to work on it the next day.
They returned the part to AutoZone and picked up another one and reinstalled it on Friday February 6th we finally got the car back around 3:45pm.
We went to AutoZone and asked to see the supposed bad injector, upon inspection the employee and my husband noticed that both seals were missing. The only reason would be if the injector was improperly installed and caused the seals to be damaged. The worker and my husband could not believe the seals were not with the part, and he said it was unusual that they did not return the part intact.
They over charged for work, and labor to install the computer, and did not perform proper testing of parts before replacing them. The interior of the car had grease on both front seats, the doors, dashboard and window. I had to spend 2 hours cleaning up my car. I have not had the car at home long enough to even put the seat covers back on it.
They did not properly install and reset the computer codes to the car and check out the systems. They charged me labor to do that and I had to pay it.
The check engine light remains on even after the work performed to it with a code that can only be reset by a dealer (Code P0335). The code refers to the crankshaft position circuit, which learns the way a person drives I was told.
The General Manager, Dennis Yokley, told us to bring the car in on Monday and they would correct the problem. When my husband called them on Monday, February 09, 2009 they said they would not reset the computer until Wednesday, February 11, 2009.
When I called and asked the general manager, Dennis Yokley, why they were putting us off, he then told us to take it somewhere else. I got a little upset and stated that she would file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and he replied I am not going to fix your car, I have only had one report in 20 years with the Attorney General of Illinois and I WON, I don't care so bring it on.
Tomorrow we have to go to another dealership to have the codes reset and cost us more money that we have already paid out to have the work done.
Then I will file a report with the Attorney General requesting 2 hours labor, plus the charges and gas tomorrow to pay again to have work done that was already paid for.
My husband called General Motors (GM) who called the dealership today, their reply was they were busy. I called GM after this Dennis Yokley threatened me. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
People need to beware and stay away from Roger Jennings, Inc. GM does not deserve bailout money. Not at all, this is the way they treat their paying customers.
Oh, they assured us they stand behind their work. They refuse to finish their work. They advertise this on the radio and all over town that they stand beind their work!
