I will take down this report if I am wrong, but in the meantime I wanted to warn people before they go for interview, in case they are not that attentive as I am. I applied for Event Assistant and Retail Development – Entry Level with careerbuilder with Showcase LA Events, got a call from them right after I applied, after a weekend, first thing Monday. I was told to come over for an interview to their office at Marina Del Rey location.

They sent me a confirmation email with link to their website and list of their "clients," the ones they make marketing/sales events for, as I understood. I never went for interview becuase there were a lot of red flags, I am sensing somthing phishy here, and want to warn, hoever I do not say it is a scam or anything, I just want people to be aware:

1) the link they game me www.showcaselaevents.com , did not work (Forbidden - You don't have permission to access / on this server.), I was tryng to clean my cache and do manipulations on computer that you ususally do when you get it and I still could not access this website.

2) I started googling this company and did not find absolutely anyhting on it (that is why I am writing this now, becuase I feel like im one of the first ones to notice it)

3) I decided to check their domain info (http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/results.jsp?domain=showcaselaevents.com) and found out that "Domain Name: SHOWCASELAEVENTS.COM" "Creation Date: 2013-08-07 15:29:32"

4) That meant that company was very new, becuase they made website only on August 7, which means I was contacted week and a half after they made website, which is not a problem, but I decided to call them, I told the young woman who talked to me about interview that their website is not working, she said it is under repair, or somthing, and told me to check it within 12 hours, which I did, and still I could not access website. Then I asked her if the company is new, she told me that they "just moved," I asked about salary range, she told me they offer good salary and benefits. That was it.

5) After this conversation, I checked the list of clients they claimed they work with, the one they included in ther email "*Prior to your interview, please feel free to review the links below to better familiarize yourself with the company and our marketing campaigns." "Our Clients: Beauty& Cosmetics:http://makeover-essentials.com/ http://miginailart.com/ Specialty Home Items: http://www.amazingwhipit.com/ http://gourmettraditions.com/ Entertainment: http://www.speakergenie.com/ Gourmet Foods: http://www.restaurantdessertcompany.com/ http://www.sevanbakery.com/ Health& Wellness http://www.mybodycomfort.com/ http://www.avani-deadsea.com/

6) Later this day another copmpany called me, same type of business - Discover Marketing Group, and after reaserching their website, I found out that almost all (if not all) clamed by Showcase LA Events' clientele acctually is also Discover Marketing Group's clientele (http://discovermarketinggroup.com/about-us/clients/). Again I do not want to say anything, but it seems extremly suspision to me, almost if like Showcase LA Events just took that info about clients from different website, it might have been the other way around as wel though.

7) So I googled "Showcase LA Events, Inc" again, this time with quote marks to find excact results, and found three links. Tow of them were useful, http://www.bizapedia.com/ca/SHOWCASE-LA-EVENTS-INC.html and http://delval.biz/BusinessDetail.aspx?ID=CA3588553, both saying that company is registered at the RANCHO CUCAMONGACA 91730 adress, versus Marina Del Rey,  and first link said that the company was registered month ago, 07/26/2013, by registered agent Ashley Stavis.

8) The last thing I did I googled Ashley Stavis, and found out that - http://entryleveljobscamsblog.blogspot.com/2011/06/pioneerpioneer-marketing-pioneer-event.html, she was mentioned as a contact for another marketing event conpany in 2011 that many people reported as scam, or at least place recommended not to deal with.

Conclusion: I do not know if I am being extra careful, but I fdo belive there is somthing wrong about this new place, I may be wrong, and this is just my opinion, but I am not going for inteview, and if you decide to go for it, at least do not give you SSN or any other personal information at first interview - that is for sure!

Alabama,
This company is not a scam

I know Ashley very well and can tell you it is not a scam, they pay you hourly and commission,

Its unfotunate Megan B had a bad experience, but because of her they now force employees to write in their hours, breaks, and overtime and are compensated for it. If ANYONE knows anything about running a business in California they know that it has many rules that are for the BENEFIT of the EMPLOYEE.

As for wroking 14 hours a day, there is no one at that company that works harder than Ashley, so take a hint and do the same and you can run your own office with your own salespeople, however, you have to start at the bottom like at MOST companies, with minigum wage, and the incentive of commission of sales. they don't do anything different than anyone else with both hourly and commission pay.

She is an amazing girl and you can learn a ton from her about running a business in sales and marketing, She comes from a strong family and is not out to hurt anyone, but there will always be haters and complainers,

so if Sales and marketing is for you and your willing to start at the bottom you can move up very quickly and even run your own office with salespeople who work for you.  I went out of my way to set up an account to defend her because she doesn't have time to deal with petty opinions, she has ran her company successuly now since starting Showcase LA, pioneer is no longer in existence . she understood it's problems which is why she started a new company, so there you have it.
