Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We purchaced a new skyline double wide trailer in October 1999. There was a cracked fitting to a water pipe that had constant water preasure on it. Due to the thick sheets of insulation under the home It was not possible to see any of the pipe work. The leak was small and steady. It first filled the underbelly insulation and broke through to fill the crawl space appx. 2 ft high with water. We did not know there was any type of water problem, it never affected our water preasure. We found the leak December 25th of 1999. The dealer came out right away and had to cap the pipe. During the time prior to finding the leak we experienced very high humidity.

We were only able to see out of a small area in the middle of the windows. Windows had thick chunks of ice in corners which would melt and reform. Under doors leading to the outside the door frames would have thick ice around them. I measured the humidity in the home with a tester, it read 70 -80 % humidity, of course this would go up at times and down, but never to a normal level of humidity. Skyline told me not to worry about the humidity, it would dry up and go away. When Skyline came to repair they fixed the fitting and dropped the insulation to dry, using electric fans. Skyline let the underbelly insulation hang down for some time and returned. They informed me that the insulation was dry and they only had to replace a small portion where the fitting had cracked and all the rest had dried and they were to reinstall it.

The summer of 2000 we had to open a small area of the insulation to retrieve a dead rodent. When the underbelly was poked water ran out. We have since had problems with the home. There of course is the fix little things doors, walls, flooring etc. when you first move in, but we found out we have toxic mold growing through out the home. The attic, walls, under the flooring.

We first experienced mold growth around the windows, then the skylights. We then filed a complaint with the dept. of comerce. We had to move out of the home due to the ill health of our children, and are in a temorary living place. Skyline is denieying they have any respnsibilty for the damage to our home or our children. As I see it, if Skyline had properly taken care of the situation we would not be where we are. Skyline has used a "band aide" approach since day one. Get in and make it look good, but never do it right. My family has paid a high price. We are unable to live in the home, but still have to pay for it. We are living in a small older trailer that was meant for us to live in for a few months. The worst of it is what my children had to go through with the health problems that have arised from being exposed to toxic mold.

We have fought with Skyline since 1999 and have had no resolve. I have retained a lawyer and if you have delt with the legal process, the wheels move real slow. If you are able to help me with info. about your Skyline home or homes built by this company with a diffrent name I would greatly appreciate it. If I am able to help you, Please let me know. I know how frustrating these companys are.
